Hi! My name is Sara, I am a Registered Nurse (RN-BSN) and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I am also a mother of two and a military spouse. When breastfeeding both of my children I was not prepared for all of the issues that could occur! Milk supply concerns, pumping when returning to work, clogged ducts, fussy baby, the list goes on! I have years of experience in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as well as the Newborn Nursery. Being a nurse and working with babies is where I am meant to be! While working in the NICU I found my passion for helping breastfeeding mothers. So I decided to study to become a Lactation Consultant. This allowed me to provide the best care for mothers and babies struggling with lactation issues. I absolutely LOVE being able to assist mothers initiate breastfeeding with their babies in the hospital setting. But I know when you leave the hospital some new challenges may arise. My own experiences have informed my practice of working with women who are pregnant for the first or 3rd time, new parents and seasoned parents who are managing the challenges of balancing the many aspects of raising kids whether in a partnership or as a single parent.
