As a Certified Doula, I love walking beside families through the transitions of pregnancy, labor and postpartum. I believe having access to positive support during those times contributes not only to better birth outcomes, but stronger bonds within the family and community as well. A mother of six myself, and while I have many interests and hobbies, like gardening and reading (SO much reading!) my knowledge around birth and motherhood has been a constant thread of connection with those I meet. I am honored when families value my input by bringing their questions to me! I am always seeking to learn more and have no hesitation in pointing clients to other resources if I am unsure of an answer. Hello there, I am Marviett Young. I serve as a Certified Doula, Nursing Assistant, Community Health Worker and CPR Instructor. I have worked in health care for 15 plus years in a variety of areas including patient care and data entry. I have been employed at Parkland Hospital Emergency Dept. for the last 8 years as a ER Behavioral Health Unit Tech. I also possess extreme interpersonal and organizational skills. Patient care is the utmost importance to a healthcare setting in today's society. It is extremely important to employ the right professional for the duties at hand. I have received education for the doula role from Paradigm Doula Institute and ongoing continuing education. I became a certified doula in 2023 in addition, I regularly attend lectures, trainings and workshops related to childbirth and postpartum. My name is Joy Lynn, a birth doula in DFW. I feel confident and called to support mothers as they birth their sweet babies; to empower women as new mothers are born. A little bit about myself: I recently began my journey to become a birth doula, with aspirations to pursue midwifery school and eventually become a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM). I have always wanted to be in birthwork, since I had my first child at 18, but never knew where I would fit in. A few years ago I learned what a doula was and knew that that was where I belong.
