Hi! I'm Jen. I am passionate about birth! I have been a Certified Birth Doula for 11 years, and a labor and delivery registered nurse for 2 years. I have seen firsthand how important education is in the birthing space, and am also an Evidence Based Birth Instructor. Education, Self advocacy and creating a good birth team positively impacts outcomes in EVERY situation. I have experienced the full spectrum of birth, from intimate home births to high risk inductions. From parents catching their own babies to stat cesareans. I love what I do! I also love cats, gardening, family time, blending herbal remedies, and hanging out with my friends drinking coffee.

I decided I wanted to Start my birthworker journey, when my unmedicated natural birth turned into a emergency C-section. Even though, I had labored at a birth center with 2 midwives. The decides to transfer me after several days of prodromal labor. My experience at the hospital was very traumatic, and left me unaware and sad. I didn’t have anyone to talk to about my experience. But my doula encouraged me to talk about it. I realized I wanted to be for other pregnant women and make a difference in how we care for pregnant women during and after their pregnancy. As a POC birthworker, I am dedicated to help women of all walks connect better with their bodies and babies,throughout their pregnancy and postpartum journey.my mission is to prepare women by educating them about their birth rights, pregnancy/labor & medical interventions.I want women to feel more empowered and confident in every aspect about their birth. I am determined to increase awareness of birthing trauma; even more so, for women of color. I believe if we implement the holistic approach of our ancestors, entitled to the birthing mother, we can create a meaningful and powerful birth experience every time.

Hello beloved I am Larice Johnson and I am a certifying full spectrum doula supporting families in Maryland. I have been trained with two different black/POC organizations. My goal in this work is to provide space for black and POC birthers, and birthers in other marginalized communities to safely and comfortably birth in their most ideal way. I believe the only way to ensure safety and comfort throughout pregnancy, during labor/delivery and recovering through postpartum is through education and support. I plan to gather fact-based information and pair it with a gentle touch to advocate for, empower, support and love my clients through this wonderful life altering time. I am currently working with families choosing to birth in hospitals, birthing centers and private residences.
