I am a DONA trained birth and postpartum doula, as well as a BSW/MSW level social worker! I believe that it's important to take a holistic approach to birth and parenthood. These experiences are sacred and everyone deserves to have the support they need. The correlation of mental health and birth/postpartum is huge. With my knowledge of community resources, mental health, and trauma, I can provide the care to all who need it.

Nicole is an incredibly kind and compassionate person who brings so much warmth and care to the people she supports. Her deep understanding of emotional needs, combined with her social work background, makes her an exceptional doula. She listens without judgment, offers thoughtful guidance, and truly prioritizes the well-being of those she works with. Anyone would be lucky to have her by their side during such an important time in their life. She is an exceptional human being and friend.

Hello, my name is Bohdana (she/her), and I became a Doula because being in a supportive role, sympathetically and empathetically meeting you where you are at in your journey, is something I am both proficient and passionate about. I will be by your side as you bring your baby into the world whether at a hospital, birthing center, or in the comfort of your own home. Once baby is born, I will continue to provide you with educational support as well as encouragement and emotional support as you become acquainted with your baby. I will support your infant feeding journey (breastfeeding or otherwise) and offer household organizational support. I have time to get to know YOU, not just your birth preferences. I have time to provide you with as much support as you need throughout your entire journey. I genuinely love supporting others and being an empath means this role comes naturally to me. After birth, both parent(s) and baby need a lot of support. I can do overnight but also daytime 8-hour shifts to help care for baby so that you can get some rest, or on a consultation basis – an informative session on infant care, breastfeeding techniques and restorative care for the parent who gave birth. I feel blessed that as a doula, I am part of such a beautiful moment and environment called birth, where I am able to help enable mothers to help believe in themselves that they strong, beautiful and powerful. Making moms feel loved, supported, cared for, and special during their labours and births is so rewarding. My first languages are Ukrainian and English, but I can also support you in conversational Russian and basic German!

Working with Doula Bohdana was an incredible experience. Her support during our birthing journey was invaluable, making the entire process amazing. Beyond the delivery, she continued to be a pillar of assistance during postpartum appointments. Bohdana provided valuable insights on proper baby feeding and ensured we found moments to rest and recover after giving birth. Highly recommend her for her expertise and genuine care.

I'm Stephanie with Gentle Birthing, and my interest in birth work was awakened the day my first child was born in 2010 at home, surrounded by our midwife and birthing team. It was at that point I realized that more women need to know their birthing options. We had 4 more home water births in South Carolina before returning to Southeast Michigan where we welcomed our 6th child at home in 2020. I enjoy learning about the physiology of pregnancy and the process of giving birth and am fascinated with all the different natural coping techniques for pain management. With each of my own births, I implemented something new I had learned along the way. I hope to support expecting mothers in the ways I have received encouragement and support from the birth workers in my life. Their support changed the way I thought about birth and what I was capable of doing.

Stephanie was a great help to us as we prepared for the arrival of our fourth baby and during delivery as well.

My philosophy is that birth is a normal and natural process. Women have an innate ability to birth their babies. Our bodies and our babies are perfectly designed for the journey. If you’ve never given birth before, let me be the first to assure you that you hold an incredible power within to grow, birth, and nourish your baby after they’re born. I believe in your power and the strength of women. Pregnancy and birth are incredibly transforming experiences in the life of a woman and her family. The stories and people that you surround yourself with during the months of pregnancy and at your birth have the potential to either enhance or diminish your belief in yourself. Every woman and birth deserves to be respected and held in a caring environment. Empowering yourself with education and support for birth helps build confidence in your ability to give birth. Education allows you to be an active participant on your journey into motherhood. It helps lead to higher rates of satisfaction of your birthing experience and a reduction in fear and anxiety. It is also associated with higher rates of vaginal birth.
