YOU NEED GRACE! If you’re going back & forth about needing a doula, YOU NEED A DOULA! It takes so much pressure off you and your birth partner to have the support and advocacy of a doula beside you. This is one time you need to take as much pressure off yourself as possible. While it's extra money, my husband & I both agree it’s SO WORTH IT! And Grace made it affordable. We were so thankful to have Grace by our side for the birth of our 2nd child. She's so knowledgeable & willing to help every step of the way. After hiring Grace, she checked in regularly, was always willing to answer questions, & met up with us to ensure we had the best plan in place. When I went into labor, Grace helped me think through next steps & was ready to meet us at the hospital. It felt like having a trusted friend there, making the whole process more comfortable. You won’t feel judged or pushed to do anything you don’t want to do with Grace. She just wants to help give you the birth experience that YOU want.

There is so much to say about our experience with Adara, it cannot possibly fit into one review. I originally wanted a doula due to the fact that I had no prior knowledge of who the provider would be to deliver my daughter and I wanted to have someone who knew and understood my preferences and someone I was comfortable with. That is exactly what Adara turned out to be for us. I interviewed three different services and companies and landed on Adara in the end. She was someone who we got to know and trust over the few months before my daughter arrived. Adara tailored her services to things I was curious to learn and the extra prenatal visits were so helpful in feeling prepared for an unmedicated birth that I wanted. Having Adara with me the whole labor and delivery (almost 29 hours) was so instrumental in getting me through unmedicated and helping me make difficult choices in the end. Without a doubt, if we didn't have Adara with us through this process it would not have been such a wonderful experience.

My biggest fear for this birth had a lot to do with the fact that I had gestational diabetes and I wasn’t sure what my labor and delivery would look like. I ended up having to be induced as a result of the diabetes. As a result labor lasted a long time and the contractions became unbearable. My doula was able to help with giving me strategies to help work through the pain and contractions. She used a few different strategies that helped me to get through a delivery with no pain medication. Her use of heat, oils, breathing and her attentiveness to my needs was the most helpful part. She was able to get me out of my own head to help me to help myself in the most productive way. The most unexpected perk of having a doula was the postpartum care. Tangela helped a lot with suggestions of how to deal with the healing process. She even provided some personally made items that I could use during my healing process. I would highly recommend DoulaSent Birth Services. The fact that I had someone to contact that would understand and sympathize but would also give practical useful tips and suggestions to remedy any troubles I had was wonderful. For anyone contemplating on hiring a doula, I would say go for it! It’s the support you don’t even realize you need until you’ve experienced it.
