About me

My name is Tangela Wallace and I founded DoulaSent Birth Services in 2020. I am a professional doula and childbirth educator certified by Doula Trainings International (DTI). I have certifications as a full spectrum doula which includes: birth, postpartum, and reproductive health. I am also a certified lactation counselor. I am a veteran high school teacher following my passion of birth work. My experience as an educator allows me to meet the needs of my clients because I am an excellent facilitator of knowledge. With my clients, I provide support but more importantly I teach partners to be supportive of each other. I am currently located in Qatar but virtual services are available worldwide.

My biggest fear for this birth had a lot to do with the fact that I had gestational diabetes and I wasn’t sure what my labor and delivery would look like. I ended up having to be induced as a result of the diabetes. As a result labor lasted a long time and the contractions became unbearable. My doula was able to help with giving me strategies to help work through the pain and contractions. She used a few different strategies that helped me to get through a delivery with no pain medication. Her use of heat, oils, breathing and her attentiveness to my needs was the most helpful part. She was able to get me out of my own head to help me to help myself in the most productive way. The most unexpected perk of having a doula was the postpartum care. Tangela helped a lot with suggestions of how to deal with the healing process. She even provided some personally made items that I could use during my healing process. I would highly recommend DoulaSent Birth Services. The fact that I had someone to contact that would understand and sympathize but would also give practical useful tips and suggestions to remedy any troubles I had was wonderful. For anyone contemplating on hiring a doula, I would say go for it! It’s the support you don’t even realize you need until you’ve experienced it.

I was worried throughout my pregnancy about my labor. In particular, I was scared about how Black women are treated in hospitals. I have heard and seen too many stories of Black mothers dying because they were not listened to by health care workers. Using DoulaSent Birth Services was a wonderful experience. The coaching, feedback, and emotional support was appreciated by myself and my husband. Having a doula brought peace to my husband's mind because Ms. Tangela always had my best interest. We both felt that having a doula made pregnancy and labor so much easier. I highly recommend DoulaSent Birth Services for Ms. Tangela's professionalism and knowledge base.

I strongly recommend DoulaSent Birth Services for anyone looking for support throughout their pregnancy, labor, and delivery. Initially, I chose Tangela as my doula because we are cousins, but she exceeded my expectations. During prenatal visits, we discussed my worries about pain management and interventions. I was particularly worried about the need for an epidural. She was knowledgeable and gave me concise information. This was the support and encouragement that I needed. The most helpful part of having a doula is the extra support. It was valuable to me because of the stress relief. The unexpected perk of DoulaSent Birth Services was Tangela’s responsiveness. She always responded to me quickly even though there is a 7 hour time difference. I would encourage any of my friends to have a doula because the support is invaluable. Moreso, I would encourage them to hire Tangela from DoulaSent Birth Services because she helped me more than I can express.”
