I’m Rafiqa from Atlanta. I’m committed to showing up to support, to hold space, to build community and connection. Rafiqa means tender hearted, kind, compassionate, companion. This is what I intend to bring by creating safe, soothing, in some ways healing spaces and choices around pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and mother/parent-hood by walking alongside Black and Brown families in Atlanta and the surrounding areas. I support your choices, your body, your labor and your partner. I will hold your space, your hand, and your confidentiality. I trust you, your baby, your body, your partner, and your journey. I’m a Black mom of four, which has further influenced my fervor for the care and support all birthing and postpartum families receive during the major and beautiful transition that pregnancy and after bring. My trainings include birth doula (Mama Glow), postpartum doula (Birthing Advocacy Doula Training), prenatal yoga (Yoga Renew), Afro and Indigenous placenta traditions (Bibi + Ni), and Grandma’s Hands Pregnancy and Postpartum Herbs and Nutrition in the Southern Tradition. Let’s journey together to ensure that you and your family feel empowered, educated, and supported in the personal and unique ways that suit who you are and what you desire.

After dedicating 23 years to being a stay-at-home mom for my three children, I made a significant decision in November 2022 to channel my time and energy into pursuing my passion for becoming a labor and birth doula. Reflecting on my own four deliveries, I realized the immense value a doula could have provided by offering education, empowerment, and encouragement to advocate for myself. I chose the certification program aligned with my goals, completing 27 hours of in-person learning. Throughout 2023, I delved into extensive reading, writing, and research to enhance my knowledge and capabilities, culminating in my first doula experience at the end of the year.

Recent review

I had my first child with Brandi as my doula and I’m so glad I did. Brandi helped me navigate the hospital and birthing experience in a way that was supportive and unobtrusive. She knew the birth plan that we had designed prior together and helped me create as close to that as possible as things progressed. When I was uncomfortable she had many tools to assist from the big stuff ( walking the halls and pressure release and e-stim during contractions), to the little stuff (chapstick and eye mask!). She was there for the entire birth, never left my side. Postpartum checkups and post birth summary as well. Thank you Brandi!!

I was lucky enough to have Ashley join me for doula services in my early third trimester. She was immediately present and actively engaged in communicating with me before my delivery. She showed up to the hospital as soon as I notified her prepared and stayed by my side the entire time. She was comforting and encouraging throughout my delivery and made sure to respect any request I had for my birthing plan. I am especially grateful for her post-natal presence. She has been thorough in follow-ups and has been a strong support to me during my current post-partum struggles. I would highly recommend her.

I have over 15 years of public health experience working at the private, state and federal level. The importance of public health and living a healthy lifestyle has been my life since I was a young girl! My mother set the stage early in life by encouraging an overall holistic approach. I witnessed my first birth at the age of nine and that exposure opened a world of possibilities. I have always had an interest in maternal and child health and a passion to support women during one of the most important seasons of life, the sacred transition into motherhood. After having children of my own, I answered the call to follow my dream and become a doula. My goal is to educate and provide resources for healthy food and lifestyle choices that can lead to a better quality of life for those in the family and future years. I received a B.S. degree in health promotion and disease prevention from the University of Southern California, and a M.P.H. in health policy and management from Emory University. Divine Rhythm Doula + Wellness Services was created to offer birth and postpartum support to expectant families. We provide educational resources and emotional support throughout the birth continuum (pregnancy, new parenthood and beyond). Our services are tailored to each individual’s birthing needs. Our mission is to ensure that our clients have the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual support they need to have a safe, enjoyable birth experience free from anxiety or fear.

Growing up in a household that valued holistic health, I learned early on about the importance of caring for our bodies and staying active. My personal journey through health challenges in early adulthood emphasized the need to look beyond symptoms and find the root cause of issues. This experience also highlighted the significance of advocating for one's own health and finding medical professionals who truly listen. With a longstanding passion for helping others and sharing knowledge, I realized my true calling when I took a childbirth education class. This revelation led me to the world of doulas, where I discovered a profound need for support during the birthing journey. The term "Doula," which means "a woman who serves" in Greek, perfectly encapsulates my mission to empower families in their birthing experiences and health choices. My passion for photography beautifully complements my doula work, capturing precious moments during birth that families will treasure forever. This unique combination provides families with both emotional support and lasting memories of their birthing journey. In addition to my doula services, I offer childbirth education classes that guide and empower families. My goal is to help families find their voices and stand firm in their beliefs throughout the birthing process, instilling confidence and a sense of control. When I'm not busy supporting families or teaching classes, I enjoy spending time with my husband, George, and our adventurous cat, Grayson. Together, we explore the great outdoors, whether kayaking, hitting the beach, or hiking. If you are seeking a dedicated professional to make your birthing experience empowering and memorable, you've come to the right place. With me by your side, you can trust that your birth plan and needs will be fully supported throughout your journey.

As a first-time dad, I thought my main job during labor was to not pass out. Turns out, with Savannah by our side, I got to be an actual support system instead of just a nervous wreck holding a granola bar. From the first meeting, Savannah made both of us feel completely at ease. She answered every question, even my ridiculous ones like, “is there a wrong way to hold a leg during pushing?”. She helped us create a birth plan, and more importantly, she made sure we felt confident when things didn’t go exactly according to that plan. When labor started on a Tuesday at 2 AM, she was the first to text back ,faster than my mom, which is saying something. Lol. By Wednesday afternoon, after countless counter-pressure techniques, words of encouragement, and somehow keeping my wife calm through contractions that could bend steel, she was still going strong. I, on the other hand, was running on fumes and hospital vending machine coffee. She even reminded me to eat so I didn’t become the patient instead of the support partner. Then came the magic moment. As my wife was delivering our little one on Wednesday night, Savannah coached me through every step. She knew exactly what we needed even when we didn’t but she always asked before stepping in to make us feel comfortable. This whole experience was a blessing. Thank you Savannah for taking care of my wife and helping welcome our new addition to our family.

Hello there! My name is Jess Harrell and I am an RN, IBCLC in the northwest Georgia region. As an IBCLC I am experienced with both in-person, virtual, and telephone lactation consultations. A little about myself! My journey in healthcare started in the ER as a patient care tech, and I became an RN in 2010. Shortly after obtaining my RN I stepped into the world of Women's Health. I have practiced in multiple arenas of Women's Health such as: mother/baby, newborn admission and nursery, labor and delivery, OB-GYN office, and lactation consultation. My journey with breastfeeding was brought on when I faced my own personal struggles with breastfeeding my first baby. I struggled with postpartum depression during that time and I did not feel that I had enough support from personal relationships nor from clinical providers. Because of this experience I became very passionate about providing support to other breastfeeding families. I never another struggling family to feel that they do not have the support and resources to reach their breastfeeding goals! I am married and we have 2 children and 3 pups! I enjoy nature, crochet, and reading. I love working with breastfeeding families and being a source of support and camaraderie with my families. I look forward to working with you!
