Janice Clarke (pronounced Ja-niece) she/her is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and the founder of JC Lactation Counseling, a private practice based in the Bronx, New York, dedicated to providing compassionate, culturally competent breastfeeding support. Her mission is to offer clarity and reassurance to parents navigating their lactation journeys, whether through prenatal education or postpartum consultations, both virtually and in person. Janice’s passion for lactation support stems from her own breastfeeding experience. After giving birth to her son in February 2019, she struggled with severe nipple pain and postpartum anxiety, feeling lost and unsupported by her healthcare team. It wasn’t until a WIC peer counselor identified her son’s poor latch that she found relief—an experience that highlighted the critical need for accessible, knowledgeable lactation professionals. This turning point inspired Janice to enter the field of lactation consulting. With a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science and a graduate background in public health, Janice pursued formal lactation training through the Center for Breastfeeding, becoming a Certified Lactation Counselor in September 2019. She gained clinical experience through mentorship with a private practice lactation consultant, hospital internship programs, and direct work with families. In 2020, she established JC Lactation Counseling in response to the racial disparities in lactation support, with the goal of increasing representation and ensuring that Black families receive the culturally competent care they deserve. Beyond her private practice, Janice is employed with Public Health Solutions NYC Breastfeeding Warmline, where she provides lactation assistance to families throughout New York City. She has also delivered the Unique Challenges of Black Breastfeeding presentation to organizations such as the New York Lactation Consultant Association, the Massachusetts Breastfeeding Coalition, the Tri-State Breastfeeding Association, and the International Childbirth Education Association. Additionally, she has led workshops at events hosted by the Office of the New York City Public Advocate. Janice is deeply committed to normalizing breastfeeding, promoting human milk as the cultural norm, and empowering marginalized communities with evidence-based information. She envisions a world where every parent has access to the support they need to reach their infant feeding goals without judgment or barriers. Outside of her professional work, Janice is an avid reader—favoring historical romantic fiction, romcoms, and fantasy—and enjoys audiobooks as a way to keep up with her love of storytelling. She has a deep appreciation for food, especially Asian noodle dishes, and dreams of a life where she can travel freely, meet new people, and experience diverse cultures. Her warmth, humor, and ability to connect with others make her a trusted advocate for breastfeeding families and a powerful voice in the lactation community.

Janice is one of a kind! I met her virtually after I delivered my baby and needed help understanding how to relieve engorgement and feed my very fussy baby. She was very patient, listened to my concerns and didn't judge me at all. She helped me figure out that I actually had a high milk supply and suggested ways to manage it. I am grateful for Janice because I would have given up breastfeeding a long time ago. I highly recommend her to any new mom struggling to breastfeed.

I am a certified postpartum doula, lactation counselor, mother, and designer. I was born in NYC and grew up between Brooklyn and Honolulu, where my parents met. Surrounded by natural beauty in Hawaii, I became really interested in plants and studied the ways they're used as natural medicine in indigenous cultures. I dove further into holistic wellness and lived in an ashram in India, where I obtained my yoga teaching certification. It became clear to me that one can be healed by connecting the mind and body with nature. I love to create nourishing meals that incorporate healing herbs to nurture the body into a balanced state of well-being. After I birthed my son, I really understood the challenges in postpartum and importance of supporting and honoring new parents in their special journey. I feel empowered to help postpartum families through one of the biggest transitions of their lives, to make them feel supported and provide resources in areas where they may feel uninformed. I currently reside in Ridgewood, NY and enjoy yoga, cooking, dancing, and tending my medicinal herb garden.

Lornnie was such a pleasure to spend time with and was so supportive. She cooked delicious and nutritious post-partum meals, cleaned the kitchen and boxed up leftovers for us for the rest of the week. Lornnie also helped us with some tips for newborn care. She is connected with the community and helped connect me to a group of new moms in the neighborhood.

Hi! I’m Rachel (she/they). Although I have been a witness and sometimes an active participant in births since a very young age, I’ve been working as a trained birth and postpartum doula since June 2018 and have supported 250+ families throughout the NYC area. I am a certified lactation support counselor, integrative lactation and baby feeding specialist, a trained lactation educator, doula mentor, placenta specialist and currently obtaining clinical hours at Jamaica Hospital to become an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). My philosophy is simple - there is no wrong way to birth as long as your choices and decisions through the journey are being heard and respected. In working together, I hope to co-create the vision for how you would like to feel during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum; helping you move through this time building confidence in your ability to decide what feels right for you. My style is rooted in mindfulness; working with the tools we already have to help us stay grounded and present in the moment. I have been a Brooklyn resident since 2004 and live one block away from Prospect Park with my child, Simone, and dogs, Elfie and Gyda. I have a BFA in Studio Art from Hunter, own a recurve bow, have a depth of knowledge in native new york plants and study herbalism. I am a LGBTQIA2S+ friendly doula - gender affirming care matters to me!

I will try to put into words the feelings I have, in an attempt to express my gratitude to Renée. Firstly, I would not have been successful without her. She believed in me, my body, my ability even when I questioned it. She knew what to do at every step- from our first conversation to the leading up to the birth, to actual birth & right after. Thank you for helping me at home as well. You just knew exactly what to do & coached me through it in a kind, gentle way (even when others were nervous you knew how to handle them too ;). Knew what to do to progress labor and when to move to hospital. I don’t know how Renée remained so present with me during the hospital delivery. A million people screaming at me- I focused on what she said. She just knew. 30 mins in L&D and baby was here. This was thanks to her cues. I would not have known what was happening without the cues Renée taught me. And after birth, helping us with immediate nursing & taking pictures!

I’ve been working with childbearing families in northern New Jersey for many years, and I strive to bring the knowledge and experience I’ve gained to each of my clients. My great joy is helping people find their own path, and trying to make it more comfy along the way.

When I contacted Britt, I was 12 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I really desired to have a relationship with my doctor, but since most OBGYN practices have you seeing multiple professionals, I was not getting that. I was desiring to go the natural birth-in-a-hospital route and hearing other friends’ stories, a doula sounded like the perfect fit. Britt was recommended by one of my friends who had Britt attend and help at all three of her babies’ births. Britt offered us a birthing course in our home, she gave us literature and resources to use an practice as we anticipated our first birth, she was ALWAYS responsive when texted or called, was informed about alternatives such as the Fresh Test, and she was a great help and encouragement to my husband pre-birth, during labor and delivery and after birth. Britt knew what I wanted - when we got to the hospital and we were almost put into a room without a tub, she was there ADVOCATING for us (since a tub room was available and it was my hope to labor in one). Britt is levelheaded, intelligent, witty, and has an excellent sense of humor. She tells it like it is. She is loving and compassionate - truly a gift from heaven. She checked in on me all throughout my pregnancy and after my baby was born. As she put it to me, “Once your doula, always your doula.” To put it simply, hire Britt as your doula. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
