Aliya is amazing! She helped me write my birth plan, offered different things I didn’t even know I wanted and schooled both me and my partner on things we had no knowledge about. She made me feel more confident going into my induction. (Babygirl didn’t wanna come out) She was there for basically the whole thing. She supported me in ways I can’t thank her enough for. She made sure all my needs were met and the doctors were doing exactly what I asked. I truly don’t know what I would’ve done without her.

I am fortunate to have been raised by a village of strong and caring women, and because I have always been in contact with babies and new mothers, I naturally developed a passion for childbirth and women's care. Seven years later, and in a different country, I became a certified doula providing emotional, physical, and informational support to mothers before, during, and after childbirth. I truly enjoy helping families navigate the birthing process and make informed decisions about their care by sharing the knowledge I have received from wise women since my early days. I am trained in various comfort measures such as massage, breathing techniques, and positioning and can provide guidance and support to your partners and other support persons. I also have over eight years of experience in postpartum support and breastfeeding guidance. I believe in empowering families and fostering a positive birth experience. For that reason, I am currently studying to become a midwife, so I can widen the care I provide to women of all ages. During my free time, I am always working on some craft, practicing yoga, caring for my plants, and learning more about the fantastic feminine body and energy. I am available to support your family in your birth journey, and I am excited to be a part of such a remarkable time in your lives.

Leticia’s support during my transition to parenthood was beyond appreciated. She was a wealth of knowledge, always offering a listening ear and able to guide me to resources and information to make my own decisions. She was my peace and calmness when I was overwhelmed. She helped take care of my baby so I wouldn’t forget to take care of myself! I trusted her to treat him as her own. She was gentle, caring and nurturing toward my son. I felt supported and confident as a new mom because I had Leticia in my corner, willing to help in any way needed. I was extremely fortunate to have her assistance and would highly recommend her to other families.

With over 20 years of experience supporting families across six countries, I bring a deep understanding of the diverse ways cultures nurture parent-child relationships. My journey into birth work began as a Health Community Worker, advocating for immigrant Latino families in New York. Later, while working at a mental health agency in Connecticut, I witnessed firsthand the profound impact that nurturing, consistent, and responsive caregiving has on a child’s development. This realization fueled my passion for family support and led me to become a Birth and Postpartum Doula, ensuring families receive guidance and care from the very start of their parenting journey. Three years ago, I earned my certification in Perinatal Mental Health, allowing me to further support families through the emotional complexities of pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Fluent in both Spanish and English, I am dedicated to creating a compassionate and culturally informed space for every family I serve.

Martha brought a level of joy, reassurance and experience to our daughters birth we didn’t even know we needed. Every step of the way through my pregnancy she checked in on me and provided the guidance I needed. Our birth changed pretty rapidly but Martha’s positivity and expertise made the entire experience more enjoyable. We were able to really focus on the birth while she helped guide those around us on decisions we made beforehand. Pregnancy doesn’t just stop after birth, the emotional and physical work continues after you’re home as well. Martha is there by your side through it all! She helped change my postpartum experience immensely, I cannot thank her enough. I will forever recommend The Knitting Doula!

I don't know how I would have gotten through the trenches of postpartum without Amanda. After dealing with PPD after the birth of my first daughter and falling pregnancy shortly after with my second daughter, Amanda helped me find myself again after being in a very dark place. I can't recommend her enough. Amanda helped me find balance in my life again after having 2 under 2 and helped me finally enjoy motherhood. Amanda is wonderful with babies and children and is a pleasure to be around. My girls absolutely love her and I cannot recommend her and only sunshine postpartum doula services enough.

I can't say enough great things about Jossy. We hired her as our postpartum doula for the first six weeks following the birth of my son. From the moment I first spoke with her, I was drawn to her easygoing attitude and comforting nature - I spoke with a number of doulas, and Jossy was the one I felt most at ease with. The conversation flowed naturally, and it was immediately clear how much she loves being a doula. Even though Jossy was only helping us with postpartum care, she was so sweet in sending regular check-ins leading up to my due date and giving tips and suggestions for issues I was dealing with. When I first met Jossy in person, I immediately felt completely comfortable around her and felt comfortable having her in our home and with our son. She quickly felt like a friend I could confide in and joke around with, which made all the difference in the first few weeks of postpartum. Jossy was so loving and sweet with our son, and it was so clear that she cared very deeply about his safety, wellbeing and happiness. After our overnights, she was always checking in to see how she was doing and offering ideas and suggestions of things to try with him. No matter how tired she was after back-to-back overnights, Jossy always arrived on time and with a smile. She was also so sweet with our high energy dog. Thank you Jossy for everything (and I wish we could have you to help us forever)!
