In my case, my passion for birth work stems from personal experience as a wife and mother of two beautiful souls. The miraculous and empowering births I experienced sparked within me a desire to guide and support others on their own journeys through pregnancy and childbirth. However, my path to becoming a birth doula was not without obstacles. Before conceiving my oldest, I faced some difficult pregnancy losses. To help heal and cope with these losses, I turned to writing and expressed my feelings through a love letter or poem dedicated to my future rainbow baby. This experience not only brought me solace, but also deepened my understanding and empathy for other women facing similar struggles. It was this profound sense of empathy and the desire to support and empower women that ultimately inspired me to become a birth doula. With every client I work with, I am reminded of the importance of providing emotional, physical, and informational support during such a transformative time in a woman's life. My personal journey has fueled my passion and dedication to this work, and I am constantly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a meaningful and rewarding profession.

I’m Riley, the doula behind Root and Vine. This work is my calling — rooted in a deep respect for the strength and sacrifice of women, the transformation of birth, and the sacredness of new life. I’m a birth and postpartum doula, trained through DONA, and support families across the DFW metroplex with compassion, evidence-based knowledge, calm presence, and a deep trust in the process of labor. I am an English teacher of seven years and my husband and I have one son. My path to birth doula work began with my own birth experience; having a doula during my pregnancy was so helpful to me and made me feel much more knowledgeable and in control of my birth. Unfortunately, the birth of my son did not go as planned for many reasons: my doula could not attend my birth, I preeclampsia complications, and my son was in a breech position. Birth is a transformation, but it can also come with trauma. My experience compelled me to become a doula to hopefully help other women have better birth experiences than I did. I’m also passionate about postpartum care; in the time after giving birth, I felt vulnerable and, although I had endured a major physical and emotional event, I was not often the focus or concern. Even amidst so much joy and love for my son, people quickly begin asking about the baby and forget to ask about the new parent. I want to be the doula that I wish I could have had! The role of postpartum doula is to mother the mother, to educate and encourage new parents, and ensure the new family is thriving together. My love of caregiving and my passion of supporting other mothers is combined in the role of postpartum doula.

Inspired by my own reproductive journey, I feel called to do birth work in this phase of my life. I have the most wonderful five year old daughter and being her Mom is absolutely the best part of my life, however my journey to her did not come without its challenges. From struggling with pregnancy loss, to a pregnancy that required me to be on full bed rest for my entire third trimester, and ultimately delivering via c-section. I am well versed in needing supportive around the clock care. And most importantly I count that care as one of my biggest blessings. Prinscilla Moore CPD CLE CNPE, is the founder of Delighted to Doula Birth Services. For as long as she can remember, supporting and educating families has been her passion. Prinscilla believes all families should be properly educated and equipped with the knowledge and tools they need in preparation for postpartum and infant care. Prinscilla is a wife, mother of four beautiful girls, and a grandmother. Prinscilla decided to pursue her passion professionally by becoming a doula. Prinscilla completed doula training for birth, postpartum, lactation education, and new parent education through Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (“CAPPA”). Since 2012, Prinscilla has been servicing families in Michigan, California, and now Texas. Hi, I’m Andrea Carter—founder of It Takes a Village, midwife, mother, and passionate birth advocate. Originally from Gary, Indiana, I made Dallas my home in 2015. Though I dreamed of becoming an OB/GYN as a child, it was my own powerful birth experiences that led me to step into the world of natural birth and begin my journey as a doula in 2016. ​Since then, I’ve had the honor of walking alongside over 160 families as a doula and supporting more than 300 families as a student midwife. I am a proud 2023 graduate of Southwest Technical College, and today I serve families as a staff midwife at Swiss Avenue Birth and Wellness Center, in addition to offering homebirth services throughout the DFW metroplex.​ ​ ​​ As a mother of four—each born naturally—I understand the beauty, strength, and vulnerability of birth firsthand.
