My journey into birth work began with the birth of my own son; a spontaneous, all-natural water birth at North Houston Birth Center. That life-changing experience awakened something deep in me—a calling to help other women feel just as powerful, safe, and supported as I did. Since giving birth, I’ve had the honor of walking alongside over 20 women; friends, first-time moms, and mentees who trusted me to support them through birth and postpartum. Whether it was being present during labor, creating birth plans, offering comfort through postpartum recovery, or assisting with newborn care and breastfeeding, I realized how deeply I’m meant to do this work. Through Precious Life Collective: Birth, Baby & Beyond, I offer full-spectrum doula support: from prenatal education and birth planning, to labor support, postpartum healing, and baby care guidance. My approach is nurturing, holistic, and rooted in real-life experience. I believe every mother deserves to feel seen, held, and empowered through every stage of this journey. I’m Riley, the doula behind Root and Vine. This work is my calling — rooted in a deep respect for the strength and sacrifice of women, the transformation of birth, and the sacredness of new life. I’m a birth and postpartum doula, trained through DONA, and support families across the DFW metroplex with compassion, evidence-based knowledge, calm presence, and a deep trust in the process of labor. I am an English teacher of seven years and my husband and I have one son. My path to birth doula work began with my own birth experience; having a doula during my pregnancy was so helpful to me and made me feel much more knowledgeable and in control of my birth. Unfortunately, the birth of my son did not go as planned for many reasons: my doula could not attend my birth, I preeclampsia complications, and my son was in a breech position. Birth is a transformation, but it can also come with trauma. My experience compelled me to become a doula to hopefully help other women have better birth experiences than I did. I’m also passionate about postpartum care; in the time after giving birth, I felt vulnerable and, although I had endured a major physical and emotional event, I was not often the focus or concern. Even amidst so much joy and love for my son, people quickly begin asking about the baby and forget to ask about the new parent. I want to be the doula that I wish I could have had! The role of postpartum doula is to mother the mother, to educate and encourage new parents, and ensure the new family is thriving together. My love of caregiving and my passion of supporting other mothers is combined in the role of postpartum doula.

I am a widowed mother of four children between the ages of 19 and 22 who were born within three years. My first birth was at age 35 with a female physician in rural Maine, who was previously a midwife. I also had a female prenatal and postpartum doula who helped me find my confidence as a new mother. My second birth was a mandatory cesarean for breech & transverse presentation of fraternal male twins at age 38. Although the male physician would not grant requested delayed cord clamping, I was permitted to take the placentas home to plant a tree in honor of the birth. My fourth child was born in my 40th year as a rapid fire VBAC at a freestanding birth center with a midwife and doula in attendance. I have served as a pre-partum and postpartum doula, and am an experienced night nanny with a high success rate with sleep training. I do not adhere to any particular philosophy, serving only to support parents and caregivers with strengthening their own parental instincts. It is my practice to mirror the customs of the household, however shabbily chic, or with the spices alphabetized in the cabinet:) Experienced with serving post partum after traumatic births.

Hi! I'm Nayo a certified birth and postpartum doula. My approach to doula-ing is one that is very family centered. I love for my families to have all of the facts and then they make the best decision for them. I enjoy journeying with families through birth and postpartum. I'm a proud mama of two smart, rambunctious boys. I love to cook for and spend quality time with my family and friends. When birthing schedule allows, I also love travelling. I found my way to being a doula after the birth of my second baby. Though my pregnancy and birth were perfectly planned and perfectly played out, I had nothing setup and prepared for postpartum. Two days after I gave birth I was up making myself breakfast, getting my oldest off to school, and driving myself and new baby to his first pediatric appointment. I felt alone and isolated. Many days I would just cry from being overwhelmed. I told my doula and lactation consultant that as soon as I was healed I would train to be a postpartum doula so that no other families nor mom would have to suffer in silence. Now, as a birth and postpartum doula, I get to make sure that moms can have the birth they want, and a peaceful, sustainable life after their sweet baby has arrived. It's truly my passion to ensure families thrive through this wild time in their lives.

Inspired by my own reproductive journey, I feel called to do birth work in this phase of my life. I have the most wonderful five year old daughter and being her Mom is absolutely the best part of my life, however my journey to her did not come without its challenges. From struggling with pregnancy loss, to a pregnancy that required me to be on full bed rest for my entire third trimester, and ultimately delivering via c-section. I am well versed in needing supportive around the clock care. And most importantly I count that care as one of my biggest blessings. I believe that care is what allowed me to bring a beautiful baby to this world safely and transition to motherhood with confidence.

I want to provide untrue and care to newborns and new parents. It is such a beautiful time in their lives and I want to be able to assist and lift any loads of stress new parents may have!

I have worked in health care for 15 plus years in a variety of areas including patient care and data entry. I have been employed at Parkland Hospital Emergency Dept. for the last 8 years as a ER Behavioral Health Unit Tech. I also possess extreme interpersonal and organizational skills. Patient care is the utmost importance to a healthcare setting in today's society. It is extremely important to employ the right professional for the duties at hand. I have received education for the doula role from Paradigm Doula Institute and ongoing continuing education. I became a certified doula in 2023 in addition, I regularly attend lectures, trainings and workshops related to childbirth and postpartum.
