Greetings All! My name is Shannon Venus Taylor, the owner of Venus Birth Space As a certified birth & postpartum doula and childbirth educator I am dedicated to holding space for families to feel supported and empowered through compassion, authenticity, education, holistic care and mindfulness. I believe birth is a sacred space of transformation. Birth reveals the purest parts of ourselves, changing the mind and body. Supporting Philadelphia Metropolitan area, surrounding suburban areas (Delaware County, Bucks County, Montgomery County) and New Jersey.

Recent review

I had the pleasure of working with Shannon in the fall of 2023 until the delivery of my first child in January 2024. As a first time mother, it was so helpful having Shannon guide me through what to expect during all stages of labor, delivery and the 4th trimester. Shannon is incredibly knowledgeable, patient and kind. Her calming nature really came in handy in the delivery room! With Shannon’s knowledge and support, me and my husband had the tools to advocate for ourselves during the prenatal appointments and in the delivery room. Overall I had a really positive birthing experience and I believe that Shannon’s presence and support contributed to that. I would not hesitate to recommend Shannon’s services to any person seeking support on their birthing journey.

I'm a lactation consultant located in Wilmington, Delaware and a single mother to two sons. Yes, I nursed them both. (Yes, for years.) I’m passionate about many things, one of the primary being mothers and people who birth babies. Helping them discover how amazing their bodies are through breastfeeding is deeply fulfilling, as is accompanying couples as they learn to parent together, growing closer and becoming stronger. While you are with me, you will experience total attention from a kind and non-judgmental listener. My goal is to help you feel confident in the choices you are making, whatever they are. We will find a way to keep you and your baby safe, happy, and healthy, however that looks for you. At The Golden Hour, you belong.

Rachel provided me and my baby with excellent care while helping me to navigate an emotionally exhausting time. I specifically noticed that she took time to listen to me and my concerns before diagnosing and treating. Still happily and efficiently nursing my 1-year-old. I cannot recommend her enough; thanks Rachel!

My mission is to create a safe, compassionate, and judgment-free space for all parents seeking guidance, reassurance, and emotional support as they navigate this precious and sometimes challenging time. Beyond my professional calling, I find joy in life’s simplest and sweetest moments—exploring the outdoors with my two young sons, savoring a beloved book at a cozy local café, and sharing laughter and creativity in the kitchen with my husband. It would be my privilege to walk alongside you in this beautiful chapter, offering both encouragement and care as you embrace the incredible journey of parenthood.

Recent review

Working with Victoria was the best decision we made as new parents! We initially hired her for six weeks, but she was so amazing that we extended her contract for four more months. We honestly don’t know how we would’ve gotten through that time without her. Victoria is not only super professional but also so warm and personable. From day one, she felt like part of the family. She always listened to what we needed, respected our parenting choices, and gave helpful advice without ever being pushy. It was clear how much she cared, and her calm, supportive presence made such a difference during those hectic first months. And let me just say, I don't think we could have done it without her! Our little one adored her, and she had this magical way of soothing even the crankiest moments. Her overnight care was a game changer for us—we finally got some much-needed sleep, knowing our baby was in the best hands. If you’re thinking about hiring a postpartum doula, don’t even hesitate. Victoria is incredible, and we feel so lucky to have had her with us during such an important time. She made everything so much easier and more enjoyable!

What sets me apart from many other doulas in the area is not only the amount of births I’ve attended, but my philosophy and core beliefs. I serve primarily home births, but for the right client will attend a hospital birth or help them labor at home as long as possible. My clients are fierce, often yearning for redemption. Who know in their soul they hold the ability to birth their baby without unnecessary interventions, without letting scare tactics or manipulation effect their journey. Clients who demand informed consent and truly weigh risks/vs benefits, alternative options, etc. The rebels. Those are my people.
