Hi, my name is Na’Sirah, and I’m 21 years old. I’ve always had a passion for working with children, which is why I’ve spent so much of my time caring for kids both inside and outside of work. I currently work at an elementary school during the week, and on evenings or weekends I enjoy babysitting for friends, family, and local families who need extra support. I started gaining experience early on by helping in daycare centers and church nurseries, and over the years I’ve developed patience, creativity, and the ability to keep children safe while also making sure they have fun. Through my job, I am First Aid, CPR, and AED certified. I have also taken courses in Early Childhood Development and other classes focused on caring for babies and young children, and I plan to continue furthering my education with more courses. I don’t have children of my own yet, but I treat every child I care for as if they were family. My goal as a babysitter is to provide a safe, nurturing, and joyful environment where kids can thrive, and to give parents peace of mind knowing their little ones are well cared for.

I am passionate about empowering birthing families to actively prepare for childbirth. Through my own experiences, I felt that there was a gap in labor support between healthcare professionals and labor partners. Many birthing people I have interacted with describe fear and apprehension as they approached their labor. Even more tragically, many birthing families have expressed disappointment or even trauma from a birth experience that felt poorly communicated, emergent, and out of their control. Part of my mandate is to know the limitations of the healthcare system and to educate families to advocate for their own birth using current and evidence-based information. Not knowing what you do not know can lead to overwhelming decisions and out-of-control situations. I also provide experienced, trained hands-on support during the labor to create a consistent, personalized, and safe environment which can decrease the need for medical interventions and increase overall birth satisfaction.

My journey began in 2014, after watching the documentary, The Business of Being Born. I was shocked at how medical and sterile birth had become and how unfairly some pregnant people are treated. From there, I spent the next three years devouring anything and everything related to birth. I attended my first birth as a doula (unknowingly) in 2017 when my goddaughter was born, and I fell in love with doula work. I married my husband in late 2017, and in early 2019 I found out I was pregnant with my first child. My pregnancy was one of the most enjoyable times of my life. I gave birth vaginally in a hospital transfer from Atlanta Birth Center, to Atlanta Medical Center in November 2019. I have my birth team to thank for solidifying my passion for other people to have the experience I was blessed with. ​I believe information is our greatest tool. I will provide you with evidence-based information from a holistic standpoint. Outside of being a doula, I love to travel. I enjoy visiting new and familiar places with my family. Due to my profession, I have expert knowledge of newborn safety and feeding practices. I am also trained in lactation techniques. Postpartum care is also included in my profession.
