About me

Hello! My name is Alysa! I am a mother, photographer, and faith-based, holistic-minded birth/postpartum doula working towards my certification. I have completed my trainings and am ready to start serving families! I provide support for labor, birth, and postpartum as well as birth planning services here in the WNY area. I am passionate about not only empowering birth, but empowering women as a whole. Our bodies are temples, birth is sacred, a natural physiological process that God created us to do! This process shouldn’t be feared, but respected and supported! Motherhood can be intimidating, even if this isn’t your first time around. My goal as your doula is to ensure that you feel heard, confident, and supported through each step of your journey.

Service introduction

As a doula I provide support during labor, birth, and postpartum as well as birth planning services, childbirth education, and even photography on the side. I do not do packages, instead I offer a basic set of services for a flat rate that can be added to accordingly. I am happy to create a custom doula package for you that includes any and all combinations of the services I provide, including prenatal doula services, birth doula services, postpartum doula services, photography, additional prenatal or postpartum visits, or any other services that is mutually agreeable to both you and I.

Packages
The Basic Birth Package
As a doula, I provide information, emotional, and physical support to a woman, her partner, and/or family before, during, and after her labor and delivery. I can also facilitate communication with your care provider to ensure that you have the information you need to make informed decisions regarding your baby’s birth. I can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation, massage, positioning and other techniques for your comfort. Before Birth: I will meet with you and your partner before labor to become acquainted with you; discuss your priorities and any fears or concerns; present evidence-based information on the risks and benefits of common interventions and procedures used during childbirth; discuss your birth plan; and how we might work best together. I will also inform you of times when I am unavailable for labor support. There are two prenatal visits (1 hour each) included in my flat fee of $800. We will schedule our second prenatal visit for around 32 weeks gestation to go over stages of labor/labor prep. We will remain in touch by telephone, texting, and/or e-mail communication during business hours (9am - 5pm) for non-emergencies and support throughout your pregnancy. I will be sure to get back to you at my earliest convenience. I will be on call 24/7, starting two weeks before the due date and ending when the baby is born. Starting when I arrive, 12 hours of in-person support is provided for the fee agreed upon in this contract. Each additional hour of in-person support will be an additional $25. During Labor: I ask that you call me when you think you are in labor, even if you do not yet need me. This gives me time to clear my calendar for the next 24 hours. I can answer questions and make suggestions over the phone, and we can decide if I should come to you then or wait for further change. I can meet you at your home or your planned place of birth. I usually need approximately one hour to get to you from the time you ask me to come. Once you call me and let me know you’d like me to begin supporting you, I will make every effort to be there within one (1) hour. Except for extraordinary circumstances, I will remain with you throughout your labor and birth. After Birth: Circumstances permitting, I will remain with you for two to three hours after the birth. I am available to answer questions about the birth or your baby, and I will schedule a postpartum meeting within a few days of the birth to visit you and the baby, review the birth, talk over breastfeeding and baby care and get feedback from you about my role. With birth clients, one postpartum visit is included in the flat fee However, should you need more support postpartum, we can discuss what that may look like for you/your family and go over my hours/rate.
