Dr. Hanna Powers is a licensed Naturopathic Physician and midwife specializing in holistic primary care, pediatrics, and midwifery, including home birth. She earned her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and a Certificate in Natural Childbirth from the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, Oregon. A Seattle native, she completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Oregon and trained under six naturopathic midwives in Portland, gaining extensive experience in integrative birth care. Dr. Powers provides comprehensive care with a focus on women’s health and midwifery, utilizing modalities such as herbal medicine, homeopathy, physical medicine, IV therapy, pelvic floor therapy, and nutrition counseling. Supporting families since 2007 with evidence-based information, hands-on continuous labor support, and advocacy. I am a Dutch gal in the USA, blessed with a husband, 4 kids, and 3 cats. I love getting dirty in my native backyard habitat, knitting, cross-stitching, singing, attending live concerts, and discovering new coves at the coast.​ I was inspired to become a birth professional after my own powerful birth experiences. The birth of my first child was incredibly intense, and I discovered an inner strength that I did not know I had. I learned from this birth that our bodies are incredible and unpredictable and that giving birth was simultaneously beautiful and raw.

I'm a former licensed teacher that followed my passion to change my 17 year side job of childbirth education and birth doula work into a full time career. It started with earning my credentials as a childbirth educator from the Seattle Midwifery School and teaching in Portland area hospitals but morphed into doing birth doula work as people I met invited me to be part of their births. I like to say I fell into birth doula work unintentionally, but it ignited a passion to do it all that I could (while raising young children, teaching kindergarten part time, and teaching childbirth prep. WHEW! Those were busy years!) Fast forward to 2022, when I became an empty nester (letting both my scientist and my opera singing daughters fly!) and made the decision to leave the classroom and pursue birth doula work and childbirth education. I hold a Masters Degree in curriculum and instruction, so helping birthing people and their support team learn about birth is a natural and easy process for me. Once I decided to do birth work full time, I pursed further education as a birth doula (which was a review of a TINY part that I learned through childbirth educator training, LOL!) and became DONA certified as a birth doula. Through the years I have been lucky to experience a wide variety of births: medicated, unmedicated, planned and unplanned cesarean, VBAC, and so much more. I have years of experience helping those that birth, with or without neurodivergence and other challenges, find their way to empowerment and joy, no matter how their birth journey unfolds. I come from a long line of birth workers: my grandmother was a NICU nurse and my great grandmother was a rural health doctor in Pakistan. This family history spurred an early interest in perinatal health care. I was diagnosed with endometriosis in my 20's, and thus developed the necessary skill of navigating healthcare systems. From my own advocacy, I developed a greater curiosity for the reproductive health space. My varied comfort skills draw from my experiences with chronic pain. Through my work as a doula, I aim to bolster a sense of empowerment and safety for the families I work with.
