I am Ana R. Saldivar, a Bilingual (Spanish) International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). My journey into lactation assistance began with the challenges I faced while breastfeeding my firstborn. The lack of knowledge and professional guidance made it difficult to nurse, and I endured months of pain due to misconceptions about breastfeeding and a lack of support. My struggles were a result of my sons’ undiagnosed oral ties, which I only discovered during my training to become a breastfeeding peer counselor. This experience highlighted the significant gap in breastfeeding guidance and understanding for new mothers, both among parents and medical professionals. During my time with WIC, I gained extensive knowledge in breastfeeding support, and the program I led received multiple awards, including two USDA National Recognitions, for serving thousands of families over my 12-year tenure. After earning my CLC certification in 2014, I realized the need for further education and achieved my IBCLC certification in July 2022. In January 2023, I launched my lactation support practice. Currently, I am enhancing my expertise through as many IBCLC Master Classes as I can take. My experience includes building trust in relationships with historically oppressed communities and understanding how biases against race, ethnicity, culture, age, abilities, gender, and sexual orientation impact breastfeeding support. My goal is to reach more families in our community and provide higher-level lactation assistance. Brittni lives in Las Vegas with her husband and their two boys. Brittni has her bachelor’s degree in Maternal Child Health with an emphasis in Human Lactation and Social Justice. Her breastfeeding struggles and triumphs led her to pursue a career in the field of lactation. Brittni received the designation of International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 2017, Advanced Lactation Consultant in 2016 & Certified lactation counselor in 2014. Brittni has worked as the breastfeeding coordinator for the inter-Tribal council of NV WIC program since 2014 serving both tribal and local communities throughout the state since 2014.

What does being a nanny mean to me? It’s my life, passion, and joy, making me feel complete and fulfilled. My mother has been a nanny for over 50 years; at 72, she still works as one and has been with her current family for ten years. I hope to follow in her footsteps. This is my legacy, a devotion, a calling; even my daughter has taken this path and has been a nanny for 12 years now. My career affected the children that I care for in many positive ways like they’ve experienced love, structure, and positive discipline, learning to respect others because they’ve been respected and acknowledged.
