Nice to meet you! My name is Ismatu Alison-Konteh LeBlanc. I live in Tucson, AZ by way of the Bronx, NY and I am happy to partner with you on your birthing journey. I am a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula as well as a Peer Breastfeeding Counselor. As a mother of four children, a caregiver of children with special needs, an educator, and a social justice advocate, I understand the value of having a doula during the birthing process. During the births of my four children, I had a person in my life that served as my Doula for free. My Doulas comforted me when I was concerned about my pregnancy with information, resources, or encouragement. They were present during my birth and helped me to understand what life would be like as a postpartum woman. My Birth Doula’s made me desire to become a Doula but it wasn’t until I learned more about the negative health outcomes for birthing people of color (especially for Black women) in maternal health that I was motivated to become a Doula. With a BIPOC Doula, birthing people of color are more likely to have positive birth outcomes. In my practice I strive to be a culturally humble doula who empowers, informs, encourages, and supports you, providing a safe space for you and those closest to you on your birth journey. A little about me, in my free time, I enjoying playing Block Blast on my phone, watching woodworking videos, reading good romance novels, and learning Spanish. I look forward to speaking with you soon!
