I firmly believe that YOU are, and always should be the person in charge of your birth experience. Your voice should be the most influential in the room, even at a whisper. While society often portrays birth as scary, painful & chaotic, my personal and professional experience has shown that it doesn't have to be that way. Birth should not be something that happens TO you; instead, it can be an eagerly anticipated event where you play an active and eager role. Two people are born anew at each birth and you are one of them. My aim is for you to emerge from this experience feeling self-assured, well-informed, fully-engaged and respected as a crucial part of your care team. I'm here to help you prepare both physically and mentally for childbirth and the profound journey into motherhood. Through thorough prenatal education and preparation, I guide you in understanding the birthing process and shaping your preferences leading up to the big day. I stand as an advocate, ensuring your preferences are effectively communicated before, during, and after the birth of your baby. Leveraging my knowledge and skills, I support the natural physiology of birth. I act as a protector of your space and experience, allowing you to concentrate on the birthing process and embracing the moment of meeting and cherishing your newborn.

My therapeutic approach tends to be eclectic with a preference towards using EMDR and a cognitive behavioral approach well as utilization of sand play, art therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) constructs. My approach also is based on my Christian world view and values. I have practiced counseling for over 15 years in various settings including residential, school-based (CSCT) services, outpatient care, and private practice. I also enjoyed working as an adjunct instructor teaching online human services college courses to students pursuing Associate’s and Bachelor’s Degrees at Kaplan University from 2010 to 2015. I have been a member of the American Counseling Association since 1998, a member of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, and a member of EMDRIA (EMDR International Association) since 2018.
