Ever since Jessica can remember, she has followed her calling to care for others. She knew from a young age that she wanted to be a nurse, and she has never deviated from that path. When she was able to formally follow her passion, she volunteered at CHOC hospital while in high school to care for sick infants. Jessica was accepted into the rigorous five- year nursing program at San Francisco State University, and was one of the 50% of remaining nursing students that successfully earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and passed her Board Exams to be licensed as a registered nurse. While enrolled in her rigorous courses at SFSU, she also became certified as a doula and donated her time to work with low- income families and assist women in the prison population at their births. Jessica’s experience during clinicals at different hospitals in the Bay Area made her question some of the traditional protocols that hospitals use, such as intervention in all births, even those that are at low risk. She began to explore other options, and was hired as an intern at The Sanctuary and Birth Center in Los Angeles. After graduating from SFSU. Jessica sought a practical balance and applied to and was accepted into the Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery where she learned and practiced a holistic approach to childbirth. During this 2 ½ year program, she was on call 24/7 for births, prenatal, and postpartum visits that were sandwiched in between her coursework. Jessica graduated, passed her Board Exams, and is a CPM-LM- Certified Professional Midwife and Licensed Midwife. Jessica has participated in more than 145 home births, and over 200 hospital births; she is well acquainted with the protocols of both. Jessica believes that in order to be the best midwife for her clients, she must be as educated and knowledgeable as possible, which led Jessica to complete courses in the Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and Midwifery program at Georgetown University. Jessica continues to further her education by staying up to date on advances in the health care field, and continue her studies at Frontier Nursing University. Jessica has officially graduated with a Master's of Science in Nursing with honors. Jessica’s ultimate goal is to combine the benefits of both western and eastern medical practices to her patients. As of yet, there isn't any other licensed midwife that has the breadth and depth of education that Jessica has achieved. Jessica believes in including the patient as part of the decision-making process. Jessica’s philosophy is that a woman should learn to trust her body and allow nature to take its course in a holistic manner when she is low risk and healthy—intervention is not always the solution. Jessica will be the strongest and most ardent advocate for mom and baby. Mom must also be educated and informed, and thus, she has responsibilities too, in order to create the most beautiful and awe-inspiring journey that the miracle of life has to offer. Alaina Nunez is a Certified Professional Birth Photographer and Videographer in Southern California as well as a birth doula, perinatal nutrition expert, Certified Lactation Educator Specialist and Certified Photography Trainer. She documents birth stories with her sense of calm and unique observational perspective. Her images are said to be editorial, intimate, and “in the moment”. She focuses on documenting the environment and emotions and notices and captures the little details that would otherwise go un-noticed and be forgotten. She is a second generation homeschooling mama of 7, which gives her the skill set to be flexible within a variety of situations and think quickly on her feet while seeing the beauty in the mess mess and chaos. She started attending births as a birth photographer in 2013 after the birth of her 4th child and supporting families as a doula in 2020 after the birth of her 6th child. Alaina is a Christian and opening shares about her faith and how she brings the Lord into the birth space. She says it would be impossible to not bring God into such vulnerable moments and prays for and over her clients throughout pregnancy and birth. She gives credit to God for her business and the gift of being able to support families while also documenting their birth journeys. She believes documentation is an important aspect of not just preserving stories but legacies and testimonies.

Hello, I've been practicing women's health since 2000 and am among the first cohort to be board certified in Women's Health Physical Therapy. Women may experience abdominal or pelvic floor issues due to too much or too little tone and muscle strength and this can happen simultaneously. The real question I like to address is what is the primary cause that triggered this cascade of events. Often times problems don't resolve because there is another issue happening somewhere else in the fascial system causing these problems. The skills I am proficient in to address these problems are Visceral Manipulation, Matrix Repatterning, myofascial release, imagery and movement, Frequency Specific Microcurrent, Integrative Systems Model.
