I’ve spent over a decade as a labor and delivery nurse inside hospital walls—standing beside women as monitors beeped, doctors rushed, and plans changed in an instant. But the moments that stuck with me weren’t just the medical ones. They were the moments when a woman felt completely alone—even with a room full of people. When she nodded through the doctor’s explanation but cried later because she didn’t understand what any of it meant for her and her baby. When she whispered, “I just want to enjoy this… but I don’t even know how anymore.” That’s why I created Hakuna Matata Mamas. To offer the kind of support I knew was missing: the kind that holds your hand through the hard, teaches you how to cope with the unknown, and reminds you that you still get to have a story you’re proud to share. Cassandra is extremely dedicated to her work and focused on putting her patients first. She is very knowledgeable about pregnancy and the birthing process and is the perfect person to have in your corner to help you feel prepared for the journey. Cassandra was our doula for the pregnancy and birth of our baby girl. We met in person first and then did the rest of the meetings remote. She was flexible, understanding and very knowledgeable. We learned so much from her, and she help me arrive that day feeling empowered, confident and ready. Even though things didn’t go exactly as planned (I ended up having an emergency c section), the preparation I did with her help me be strong with the unexpected turn of events and realize I did everything I could to have a natural birth. And now I’m recovering extremely fast and smoothly. Im having a great start with baby, including breast feeding, and I think it’s all due to what we did and learned from her during pregnancy.
