INITIAL VISIT
During your initial in-home visit, I will provide personalized breastfeeding support tailored to you and your baby’s needs in the comfort of your own space. This visit typically lasts 60-90 minutes and includes
1. Comprehensive Health History: We’ll go over your pregnancy, birth experience, and current feeding routine, discussing any challenges or concerns you may have.
2. Feeding Observation: I will weigh your baby prior to beginning the feeding and the end to ensure adequate milk transfer. I will observe a breastfeeding session to assess your baby’s latch and positioning to identify any issues with feeding and ensure both you and your baby are comfortable and thriving.
3. Hands-On Guidance: I’ll provide practical, hands-on support to adjust latch, improve positioning, and offer tips for managing common breastfeeding issues like nipple pain or low milk supply.
4. Milk Supply Evaluation: We’ll discuss your milk supply, and I’ll offer strategies to help boost or regulate it based on your goals, whether you’re breastfeeding, pumping, or doing a combination of both.
5. Address Concerns: Whether it’s latching difficulties, infant weight gain, or pumping challenges, I’m here to provide expert advice and emotional support, empowering you to feel confident in your breastfeeding journey.
By the end of the visit, you’ll receive a personalized feeding plan, tailored to your specific needs, with follow-up recommendations to ensure continued success.
FOLLOW UP VISIT
A follow-up home visit is designed to provide continued support and address any ongoing or new breastfeeding challenges that may arise. Lasting 45-60 minutes, this session builds on the progress made during your initial visit and includes: 1. Progress Review: We’ll start by discussing how breastfeeding has been going since the initial visit, reviewing any improvements or persistent concerns such as latch issues, milk supply, or your baby’s feeding patterns. 2. Feeding Observation: I’ll observe another feeding session to assess your baby’s latch, milk transfer, and overall feeding behavior. This helps ensure that any adjustments made are working effectively for both you and your baby. 3. Further Guidance: Based on your current needs, I’ll provide additional tips and techniques to optimize breastfeeding, improve comfort, and manage any new concerns that may have developed. 4. Milk Supply Management: We’ll reassess your milk supply and discuss ways to maintain or increase it if needed. This is especially helpful if you’re managing a new pumping schedule or transitioning back to work. 5. Ongoing Emotional Support: Breastfeeding can be both rewarding and challenging, and I’m here to offer continued encouragement and reassurance to help you feel confident and supported on your journey. 6. Updated Care Plan: Before the visit ends, I’ll update your personalized feeding plan with any new recommendations and provide resources for ongoing support, ensuring you and your baby continue to thrive.
