1. Ideally I’d like to give birth at home. 2. $2-$3000 3. At the moment, birth plan is non-existent other than we’re exploring options and what like a water home birth.
1. Plan to give birth at UIHC most likely planned c section related to previous full term loss. 2. $1500-$1750 Budget 3. A planned C-section birth plan focused on creating a "gentle" or family-centered experience by requesting preferences like dimmed lights, music, a clear drape to view the birth, immediate skin-to-skin contact, and delayed cord clamping. Gentle C-Section Plan: Environment: Request dimmed lights, a quiet room, or to play your own playlist. Support: Designate your partner or support person to be present. Comfort: Request IV lines, blood pressure cuffs, and EKG leads be placed on your non-dominant arm to allow for easier holding of the baby. Visualization: Ask for a clear drape (or to have the mirror/screen lowered) to see the baby being born. During the Birth Communication: Ask the staff to explain what is happening, and consider requesting they tell you when they are ready to begin. Skin-to-Skin: Request immediate skin-to-skin contact in the operating room (OR) if no medical issues arise. Cord Clamping: Ask for delayed cord clamping, allowing the cord to stop pulsing before it is cut. Bonding: Request that the baby stays with you while the incision is being sutured, rather than going immediately to a warmer. Immediately After Procedures: Request that newborn assessments (weighing, measuring, cleaning) be delayed until after your first hour of skin-to-skin bonding. Feeding: Express your desire to breastfeed in the operating room or recovery room. Cord Care: Mention if you plan to keep the placenta.
