My name is Bernarda Reyes, and I am an Afro-Latina who recently moved to Fort Worth, TX from New York. I am looking for a doula to guide me through my birth journey. While I am planning to give birth at a hospital, I am also open to considering a home birth depending on the cost. I am especially mindful that here in Fort Worth, the maternal mortality rate for Black women giving birth is very high. As a woman of color preparing for my first birth, after having experienced a miscarriage in the past, I want the support of a doula who can guide me with compassion and understanding through this journey.

I will be giving birth at Baylor All saints in Fort Worth. Not sure about a budget yet I just want the best support. My first couple pregnancies were rough. I’m in a season of trying to enjoy it all and make sure this time around I have endless support through my process. I need help with a birth plan. I know I want to try unmedicated, I want to set the mood in my delivery room with blue lights, aroma therapy and white noise or nature sounds.
