I will be having the baby at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital, but I have always been interested in the option of a home birth, I haven’t fully decided. A budget is undecided since I am not sure what a midwife or doula typically costs. I am very early so I don’t have a birth plan just yet, but I do know that I think it’s important to have an additional support with me to advocate for what I will want. My choices may seem controversial to medical personnel.

I plan to give birth at my home. I am unsure about my budget, since I don't know what this type of support costs. I would like to give birth at home, with my partner, a doula and a midwife. I would like a woman to assist me in birthing. I would like a natural, peaceful birth.

I’m still trying to make all these decisions for myself, it is my first pregnancy and I’ve been looking into hypnobirthing so far. It’s something I’m really interested in and I’m hoping to find a doula who can help me continue to learn in that field.

I plan to give birth at Kootenai hospital with Dr. Meltzer. My birth plan is to stay unmedicated for as long as possible to ensure I am able to move to help baby descend properly. This will be a VBAC attempt. Dr. Meltzer is very supportive and believes that I should be able to have a vaginal delivery. He is also completely supportive of an unmedicated birth but will administer pain management at my request. Hospital policy requires two IVs for vbac but otherwise appears to be treated like any other birth. I want a doula to guide me through labor, support my very nervous/anxious husband, and be my backbone when I become vulnerable. Estimated budget ~$1,000 but I can be flexible. I am unsure of the going rate, to be honest.

I have also applied for a travel extension, which will allow my prenatal and delivery expenses to be covered under my husband’s health card (he is a PR holder). This is my first pregnancy, and I am currently 7 weeks along. I am 28 years old and of South Indian origin. While I have hypothyroidism, it has been well-managed with medication for the past five years. I do not anticipate a high-risk pregnancy and would prefer a home birth, though I am open to alternative plans if needed. My goal is to have minimal medical intervention. I am on a tourist visa and currently on my 30 weeks. My due date is on July 27, 2025. I am not sure yet where to get birth. My funds is very limited so i need help.
