Hi there parent(s)! Congratulations on this exciting journey of welcoming a new life into your family. I can’t wait to learn more about you (all). A little about me: I am a 31 yo queer Sikh woman currently living in Long Beach, CA. I have a big heart and have spent the last almost 2 years soul searching, which has led me to want to pursue birthwork and to support families like yours. Birth can be a stressful time because it is such a foreign, high-emotion event. At the same time, birth can be empowering and sacred, and also help welcome in a transition to (multi) parenthood. I see my role as being there to support you (all) before, during, and after this time through emotional presence, physical comfort, and information advocacy as you (all) navigate in the moment decisions. What you need to know about me: While I am new to birthwork, I have a previous career in sexual violence prevention and advocacy. I also currently shadow L&D at St. Francis and have an internship at South Coast Midwifery in Irvine. This week alone I saw 4 births and am doing all I can to educate myself so I may better support you. I am currently seeking clients as a volunteer doula, set to deliver in May and June.
