In the family's words
Temporary Overnight Infant Caregiver / Gentle Sleep Specialist **Los Angeles, CA ([personal details hidden])** We're looking for an experienced overnight infant nanny and gentle infant sleep specialist to support our family for approximately **2–3 weeks in November**. **Schedule:** 11:00 PM–7:00 AM, ideally 5 nights per week. We're flexible on specific nights and open to discussing scheduling. Our daughter [name hidden] is 5 months old and currently wakes 2–3 times per night. She has not yet consistently slept through the night and typically relies on nursing to fall back asleep. Our pediatrician has cleared her to sleep overnight without feeds, and we're ready to work toward gently transitioning away from overnight nursing and helping her develop longer, more consolidated sleep stretches. We're interested in someone with professional experience in **gentle infant sleep coaching and night-weaning breastfed babies**. Our goals are to: - Gradually transition [name hidden] away from nursing as her primary way of falling asleep and resettling overnight. - Help her learn alternative soothing and self-settling techniques. - Gently eliminate overnight feeds - Encourage longer stretches of independent sleep - Establish sustainable sleep habits that we can continue as parents after the temporary placement ends We strongly prefer a responsive, attachment-oriented approach to sleep. We are not interested in cry-it-out, extinction methods, or leaving baby to cry for extended periods. We want someone who understands infant sleep development and can help [name hidden] learn new skills through patience, consistency, and responsive soothing. We want to work collaboratively with our caregiver on a clear sleep plan and understand the strategies being used so we can maintain consistency once the engagement ends. Overnight responsibilities: - Take the lead on [name hidden]'s overnight care from 11 PM–7 AM. - Respond to nighttime wakings and help her resettle without nursing. - Use developmentally appropriate soothing techniques. - Monitor and document sleep patterns, wakings, and progress. - Change diapers only as needed (typically only if she has a bowel movement). - Provide brief daily updates and guidance on strategies we can continue during the day and at bedtime. Ideal qualifications: - Extensive experience caring for infants, particularly 4–6-month-olds. - Professional experience with gentle sleep coaching and night-weaning. - Experience transitioning breastfed babies away from overnight nursing. - Excellent professional references. - Strong understanding of safe infant sleep practices. A note about scheduling: We understand this is a relatively short engagement so it may make sense to connect with someone who is between longer-term family placements, waiting for their next newborn-care assignment, or otherwise has a temporary opening in November. We're open to discussing hourly rates based on experience and qualifications. **Please reach out with:** - Your relevant experience and qualifications. - Your approach to gentle sleep coaching and night-weaning. - Your November availability. - Your hourly rate. - References from previous families. We're hoping to find someone wonderful who can give us some much-needed overnight rest while helping [name hidden] develop healthy, sustainable sleep habits!
