Hi! My name is Alexa, I am a Holland native, I am a childbirth educator, and I can't wait to help you along this journey! I became passionate about birth work at about 10 year ago. So far on my journey I have tried my hand as a midwives assistant and as a doula, and have currently found a passion for Childbirth education! Coming from a liberal arts background, earning my History degree from Hope college in 2023, I have a strong foundation in research and critical thinking. This background is what I base all of my Childbirth classes in. More than just an avalanche of information, my classes teach you how to do your own research and think about what is best for you and your family. I have attended trainings in doula support, waterbirth, childbirth education, and am currently in school for nursing as well. Along with all of that, I am constantly learning new information to pass along to you. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions on any of my offerings!

Hi, I'm Hannah. I've been in birth work for 20 years, though I've been passionate about birth for as long as I can remember. As a registered nurse (with labor and delivery experience) certified doula, childbirth educator, and life coach, I focus on helping you feel empowered and supported throughout the process of your pregnancy, birth, and early postpartum. I'm a mom of six boys, myself and have experienced both hospital and home birth personally. I know first hand how birth can imprint and shape the mind and memory and make every effort to assure my mamas experience birth as beautiful! I co-founded and work with a partnership of doulas in Michiana - Birth Doulas of Michiana.

I would highly recommended Hannah Norton to any of my friends or family who are pregnant and looking for a kind, knowledgable, and experienced doula! Our experience with Hannah far exceeded ecxpectations. Her response time to questions and concerns was very timely and she welcomed any questions without hesitations. Having access to the whole Birth Doulas of Michiana cohort and all their specialties was an added bonus. It was a joy and comfort having her as our doula throughout our whole pregnancy.

I seriously would not have been able to do this birth thing without her!! I felt comforted and like I had a supportive friend there for my husband and I throughout my entire labor and even after. When my water broke, she was there with me to labor most of the day at home and spent all night in the hospital with us. Labor and delivery is filled with many highs and lows, and there are so many emotions that take place, but I was so thankful for Ashley during it all. She really added so much joy and value to my labor experience, and cheered me on as I made my final pushes for our sweet baby girl to join us!! It was incredible and I was so grateful. Highly, highly recommend her 10000x!!! I also really appreciated her costs. We were really struggling financially at the time and I really wanted a doula but so many were so expensive, and then I found her and was so thankful despite our struggle, we were able to come up with a plan and make it work! It meant the world to us. 🥲

As your doula it’s my goal to make sure you have the skills, education and support to make informed decisions on how to birth YOUR way. Certified as a DONA birth/postpartum doula, placenta encapsulation specialist, as well as a certified advanced trained doula & educator in VBaC births, my role is to educate, support and empower every individual and their support partner through their pregnancy, labor and postpartum. I incorporate SpinningBabies methods into my work and provide encouraging, judgment-free and continuous birth support that is unique to each client’s hopes and wants towards a healthy & satisfying birth experience. Some of my professional highlights including being voted a Top Provider in GRKids Best Of GR and serving as director for The Maternal Wellness Program. On the personal side, I am a mom to three amazing children – Malone, Beau & Jocelyn (twins!), and wife to a sweet “Kentucky Boy”. My introduction to motherhood was challenging. I struggled with infertility, postpartum depression/anxiety and a difficult first birth. All these moments in my life set me on my path and passion for birth & postpartum support, and maternal mental health.

We just loved Carrie! She was so knowledgeable, kind, calm and intuitive to our needs, and definitely helped me with some fears I had about trying for a VBAC (I did it!!!). Nobody would regret having her in the birth room with them and I can't imagine not having her with us again if we have more children.

I'm a West Michigan mom of four who married her high school sweetheart and runs on chocolate & peanut butter. As a health educator by degree, my desire to support & champion others flourishes every time I hear a birth story. This fascination I have for all things pregnancy, birth & postpartum that led me to become a doula stems from my own experience advocating for my birth wishes and learning to trust my intuition. I hope every birthing person I meet knows this - your birth experience matters, your intuition is mighty and I will always be your supporter.

Hello, and welcome. My name is Melissa, and I’m the doula and heart behind Held at Tulia — a space rooted in stillness, strength, and deep presence. “Tulia” means to be calm in Swahili, and that spirit of grounded peace shapes the care I offer. As a full-spectrum doula, I walk alongside you through all the sacred and complex chapters of your reproductive journey — from fertility and birth to postpartum, loss, and every moment in between. My approach is intuitive, nonjudgmental, and rooted in honoring your autonomy and wisdom. As a woman, I understand how vital it is to feel truly seen, heard, and held — especially in moments when the world doesn’t always offer that care freely. I am committed to creating a space where your choices are respected, your identity is affirmed, and your experiences are witnessed with compassion. Whether you're preparing for birth, navigating abortion or loss, healing in postpartum, or simply seeking steady hands and an open heart — you belong here. Held at Tulia is not just a service, but a sanctuary.
