1.) I plan to give birth in the same lovely birthing center I used for my first two children in 2020 and 2022. It is located in Strasburg, Pa. However, what I’m looking for is a postpartum doula in my home in Elizabethtown, Pa. 2.) I would like to use my Medicaid UPMC for You health plan to cover services. 3.) My postpartum desire is to have multiple visits over the first month or two. I am hoping a doula can bless us with help around the home and meals, care for our two older children, help me in my healing and breastfeeding (pumping), and overall provide support for the family as we welcome a son with medical needs (cleft lip and palate).

Going birth at a women’s and babies hospital facility. I am unsure of a budget. I would like to try to give birth naturally, but epidural is not off the table completely, no C-section unless medically necessary. Delayed cord clamping. Just me and my husband at home with our 3 dogs, he will not have paternity leave so maybe someone to just assist with light cleanings and guiding me so I don’t go insane
I’m trying to find a doula that can help my husband and I advocate for ourselves during delivery
Postpartum needs. From the very start post pregnancy.
Rest: My goal is to follow the 5-5-5 rule. I’d like the doula to prioritize tasks that keep me stationary so I can heal. Nutrition: Help create meal plan that focus on warming, easy-to-digest meals (soups, stews). Note: I am vegetarian. Bonding: I want to prioritize skin-to-skin time. Lactation Support: Help with latching, positioning, and recognizing baby’s hunger cues. Demonstrations: I’d like to be shown (rather than just told) how to do the first bath, umbilical cord care, and safe swaddling. Sleep Hygiene: Help us implement a safe sleep environment and understand newborn sleep cycles. Baby Soothing: Teach us "the 5 S’s" or other techniques for calming a crying infant. Visitor Policy: If visitors are present, the doula’s role is to ensure I am being cared for. If I look tired, the doula has permission to kindly wrap up the visit.

I am looking for someone that can be a third party resource after the baby arrives. This is my first baby and my husband doesn’t get paternity leave. I love my family but don’t want to put too much burden on them for help, so looking to have another resource. First time breastfeeding, I’m nervous about latching and tongue ties. Lastly, would be nice for someone to check in on me. I fully expect when baby comes to sort of fade into the background and I want to make sure that I’m good so that I can show up for my family.
