About me

I am a Clinical Psychologist and Trauma Informed Yoga Therapist with specialized training in Positive Discipline and Pre/Post-Natal Yoga/Mommy and me yoga. As a mother myself, I understand the emotional experience and identity shift of parenthood. I am determined to help other parents like myself to connect to their child/children and feel empowered to love their bodies and themselves. Positive Discipline teaches tools to support kind and firm parenting that is consistent with your family's values and works long term. Yoga is an incredible tool in preparation for labor as well as in recovery from labor. Yoga has benefits in managing emotions, improving sleep, improving immune system health, reducing pain, improving focus, supporting flexibility and strength, improving bone density, and increasing balance.

Service introduction

THERAPY I have specialized experience in the Trauma Systems Therapy, a model of family therapy that recognizes the importance of developing safety within the environment and giving tools to help individuals manage their emotional responses to trauma reminders prior to making meaning out of threatening life experiences. Trauma Systems therapy will help families better understand how to create safety for one another to improve trust and communication in relationships and with outside systems including schools, health care providers, community organizations or religious groups, and social services. I also have specialized experience in Positive Discipline, a therapy approach that helps caregivers set kind and firm limits with children and empower them to be respectful, responsible, and cooperative while experiencing belonging and value for who they are. PRENATAL YOGA Prenatal yoga classes provide a safe way to stay healthy and courageous throughout your pregnancy. Each class is tailored with modifications for each stage of pregnancy and includes strategies for pain management, strengthening, and relaxation that will help prepare you for labor and beyond. POSTNATAL STRENGTHENING This class focuses on rebuilding core strength after labor through engaging the pelvic floor and transverse abdominis. This class is specifically designed for parents who are at least 12 weeks postpartum. This Pilates/Yoga Fusion class will work on safely toning so you can get back to the high intensity workouts. POSTNATAL RESTORATIVE Consider this class an oasis from the hustle and bustle of parenting. This class is designed for parents who are at least 6 weeks postpartum and focuses on gently stretching muscles that get tight during pregnancy and labor such as quadriceps, psoas, and hip flexors. Releasing postures will be incorporated to reduce back pain, support pelvic stability, help sciatica pain, and increase circulation in the chest and shoulders impacted by breastfeeding. This class will also help claim what precious little sleep you have as a parent and improve baby blues and anxiety that is natural to encounter post labor. MOMMY AND ME YOGA This class is designed especially for new moms of babies 6 weeks old and older. Enjoy relaxation and build up your strength without needing childcare! This class is a come as you are class. If you need to breastfeed during class, do it. If you need to change your baby, go for it. Mommy and me yoga provides a space to connect with your baby in community with other moms. This class incorporates songs and movements conducted with your baby as well as flow just for mom.
