I am currently expecting my fourth and final baby, and this pregnancy carries a lot of meaning for me after my last birth experience. My previous delivery was traumatic. I experienced PROM at 32 weeks and was admitted to the hospital until delivery. At 33 weeks and 5 days, I had an emergency C-section due to a cord prolapse. My first two births were uncomplicated vaginal deliveries, and I am hoping to attempt a VBAC with this baby. During this pregnancy, I have also faced some unexpected changes. My original provider’s practice closed unexpectedly, which meant losing the care team and birth plan I had prepared for. This has added some fear and uncertainty that I am still working through. I recently transferred care to the UK Midwives in Lexington, Kentucky, and while the transition has gone well, I still feel a bit uneasy after touring the UK Labor & Delivery unit. Because of my previous experience, it is especially important to me that this birth feels calm, healing, and empowering, where I feel informed, supported, and not caught off guard by what is happening. My ideal birth environment would include laboring in water or using labor tubs if available, low lighting, soft music, minimal interventions unless medically necessary, and delayed cord clamping if possible with dad able to cut the cord. As this will be my final baby, I would love to have birth and immediate postpartum photography so I can look back on this moment and remember closing this chapter of my life in a meaningful way. Ideally, I am hoping to find a birth doula who is experienced with herbal or natural support techniques, and who can help create a calm environment during labor. I would also love someone who can help guide my partner on ways to support me during labor. He is very present and wants to help, but sometimes feels unsure of what to do, and I know he would appreciate that guidance as well. I would also love a doula who is comfortable advocating when needed and providing hands-on labor relief techniques for pain management during labor. While I fully support medical students and understand they have to learn somewhere, due to previous birth trauma I am still working through, I would prefer that students not perform procedures on me during labor, delivery, or postpartum care. Life at home can be quite busy and stressful. I have three children, two of whom are older and involved in school and sports in different counties, and I am also the primary caregiver for my disabled mother who has some mental health decline, as well as my older half brother who suffered a traumatic brain injury and has lived with me for the past five years. Because of these responsibilities, I do not often have much time for self-care, but I want to prepare meaningfully for this birth. Our hope is to find someone who can provide doula support and birth/postpartum photography, ideally at or under $2,000. This birth means a lot to me as a chance for healing and closure, and I would love to work with someone who can help create a supportive and calm environment as we welcome our final baby. Finding someone who understands the emotional side of birth after trauma and can help create a grounded, reassuring presence would mean so much to our family.
I want a holistic care provider who can assist in home birth
1. home, 2. I am not sure of our budget we are open to seeing various options out there, 3.I am currently pregnant with my first baby and am exploring care options. I do not have a provider that I regularly see, and I am interested in establishing care with a midwife. I would love to plan for a home birth. I experience significant anxiety, and I know that being in my home environment would provide the calm and sense of safety I need for both myself and my baby to support a positive birth experience. I am also interested in the option of laboring and or birthing in water. (want natural birth) We do have a deep bathtub at home, but I am also open to using a birthing pool if recommended. For my first appointment, I am also in need of a Pap smear and breast exam. Ideally, I am hoping to find a midwife who can both assist with a home birth and provide prenatal care through office visits. I am located in Shelbyville, Kentucky. Thank you so much for your time. I would love to learn more about your services and availability.
