I’m planing to give birth at Providence St Joseph hospital in Burbank. It would not be my first choice as I was hoping for a home birth. Unfortunately, I was laid off last year and have been unable to find work. I’m hoping to find support covered by medi-cal. I would like my birth to be unmediated and with as little intervention as possible. This is my first birth so I do feel a bit nervous. I would only like my husband and doula in the room (along with any necessary medial care team). I would like to be able to move freely and have help getting into positions that will help me through the various stages of labor. I’d also love to spend time in the bath. I want skin to skin right away and delayed cord clamping.

I understand that I have 9 covered visits with a Doula as part of my Anthem Blue Cross plan. I am having a scheduled c-section and would like to use this visits after the baby arrives for post partum support in my home. Ideally I’m looking for a doula whose work is more focused on postpartum care, such as helping with newborn care, feeding support, postpartum recovery, and general adjustment during the first few months after the baby arrives who works with my insurance.
