At the same time, I would like my birth experience to be calm, respectful, and as comfortable as possible. I am interested in creating a birth plan so I can communicate my preferences clearly, such as pain management options, who is present during labor, and how I would like to be supported emotionally. Having guidance from a doula would help me feel more prepared, informed, and confident during labor and delivery.

We plan on giving birth at the hospital as it is our first and I found out I have gestational diabetes. We don't know what to expect for budgeting for a doula, we're hoping to have someone who's fully authorized and certified with Tricare for direct billing. Natural birth, hopefully unmedicated, lots of movement, and showers hopefully helping with the pain. Have never had a doula before, but am a little worried my husband might be traveling for the birth! Looking for services to be completely covered by Tricare ideally.
