About me

Rhonda is a birth doula, childbirth educator, doula trainer & mentor, BIPOC birthworker connector and pelvic steam facilitator. She refers to herself as a lactation champion because of her passion for helping families feed their babies. Serving families in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, Rhonda loves helping parents realize their strength and ability. It is her desire to help families understand their rights and options so they feel empowered to advocate for themselves. Before entering birth work, she spent two decades working to support healthy families. Her career has included working as an after-school program director, healthy relationships/sexual health educator, community connector for an elementary school, homeless shelter co-facilitator and leading teen mission trips.

Birth Doula Services

My packages vary based on the needs of the family. We will discuss your desires for support during your pregnancy, birthing time and postpartum period. During the interview, we will discuss your budget. I have a fee range $1200-2000

Pelvic/Vaginal Steam Services

Rental Package: We provide our steam set-up necessities for rental. This includes a steam stool, herbs for 3 steam sessions, and an enameled pot. Instructions will be provided. The pot and stool will be picked up on day 4. $150 Facilitated Package: We come to you and facilitate the steam session. Everything will be prepped and led by us while you relax. After the steam session, we will leave herbs as you steam on your own days 2 & 3. Instructions will be given on how to steam without a stool. This package includes a virtual consultation to discuss your intake form and answer questions. $90 Virtual Steam Consultation: We will discuss your intake form and answer questions. This package does not includes herbs or steam set-up. $30 Purchase Herbs: After a consultation to determine your Herb blend, you can purchase- 6 steams for $40 OR 10 steams for $60.

Pelvic/Vaginal Steam Class

Steaming is an age-old, traditional self-care practice where you sit or kneel over a warm pot of water gently exposing the pelvic floor to the steam. The purpose/intention of using steam is to open the uterine arteries to bring more blood flow to the uterus and pelvic floor. Steam dilates the pelvic floor tissue, opening and relaxing the cervix and arteries. This brings blood flow to the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, rectum and perineum. Frequently asked questions

How many times do we meet?

I do not have a set number of visits. Each family is different and their needs vary based off of what is happening on a given day. Sometimes we meet in person and other times we meet virtually. Clients also send text messages and emails when they don't need to talk but want to relay a message.

What is a doula?

A doula is a trained professional who supports another person through a significant health-related experience, such as fertility, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, miscarriage, abortion, stillbirth, or non-reproductive experiences such as dying. Doulas are not medical providers. As a birth doula, I provide physical, emotional and informational support to you and your partner. I can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation, massage, positioning and other techniques during the labor and birthing process.

What do you not do as a doula?

Perform clinical tasks, such as blood pressure, fetal heart checks, vaginal exams, or any other medical procedures. I am there to provide physical comfort and emotional or informational support. Provide medical advice- I will help you process your options and can direct you to resources that might help answer your questions so you can make an informed decision. If you have medical questions or concerns, you should contact your care provider. Make medical or other care decisions for you- I will help you get the information necessary to make an informed decision. I will also remind you if there is a departure from your birth plan. Speak to the staff on your behalf- I will discuss your concerns with you and help you think through options, but you and your partner will speak directly to the clinical staff. Though I don't speak for you, I always have conversations with staff and help families ask questions when needed.

How do your fees work?

I have honest conversations with families about their budget and discuss my fee range. From here, we agree upon a fee which is written into the contract. The initial deposit is due when the contract is signed. It is preferred for the final payment to be made by 36 weeks. Between the deposit and 36 weeks, families can make payments as they see fit.

How do I hire you as my doula?
