My journey into this work began as a nanny, where I discovered how much I loved caring for little ones and supporting families. That passion grew even deeper while taking Child Development and Education courses at Saddleback College, which eventually led me to become a full-time postpartum doula. We are Shayna & Jamie, two nurses who also happen to be mamas with a heart to educate every household on the basics of pediatric illnesses as well as CPR & choking! We offer in-home, private educational courses for groups of care givers, families or friends and are starting to book out courses for the next couple of months. Our courses provide the same education of a CPR course without the formalities of a certification... meaning you will walk away with the information you need to adequately perform CPR without a certificate & have the bonus of one-on-one guidance with Jamie, a trained American Heart Association Instructor and seasoned ER/Trauma Nurse. Along with the CPR course, Shayna (a pediatric nurse) will provide an in-depth head to toe overview of the most common pediatric illnesses, how to manage them at home, when to see a doctor & when to go to the ER. At the end of the course, there is an option to do a Q&A where you have uninterrupted time with trained professionals as well as hands on practice with manikins to practice performing CPR. Our courses typically take 2 hours between set up and take down. The course currently runs $75/ person. Since this is a private course, you get the freedom to choose who you'd like to attend & invite your chosen people. We are based out of Orange County & have a class participant minimum based on location & distance. Travel fees may apply. Our schedule is flexible with weekends, evenings and morning slots available & we book on a first come, first serve basis. I am a DONA certified and Medi-Cal approved birth doula and mother of two. I believe birth is a natural physiological process, and a sacred passage: for mother, parents, baby, and family. I understand pregnancy and childbirth to be a deeply transformative time. As a Christian, I celebrate every baby born into the world as a unique and precious gift from God. My passion to become a birth doula grew from witnessing my nephew's birth and then having two boys of my own. Like many women, I was fearful of childbirth due to my limited understanding. Birth was rarely talked about by the women in my life and if it was, pain was typically the main subject. Watching my nephew’s birth showed me that birth can be beautiful. I believe that as women, our bodies were designed by God to birth well. While complications do happen, they are not the rule. Birth is a natural physiological process. It is hard work and can be uncomfortable or painful, but that is not all. Birth is a transformative, life changing experience no matter how it happens: unmedicated or medicated, vaginal or cesarean, home birth, birth center, or hospital.

I have been a labor and delivery RN for over 30 years and continue to serve the California region as a travel nurse, at which that has been for 11 years. Owning my doula/montrice business in the states of Missouri for 17 years, I feel I can come to California and continue that legacy. Beautiful Birth Memories has been a successful business that offers not only early pregnancy education, but during labor, and after labor education. I have been also privately teaching Lamaze classes for 34 years and have continues to offer my services during this pandemic on a one to one bases with expectant couples.

My path to becoming a doula was forged during a deeply personal experience, as I navigated the challenges of healing my own womb from an ovarian cyst. Faced with the possibility of losing an ovary and the potential inability to have more children, I turned to holistic remedies and the power of herbs. Driven by this newfound purpose, I embarked on a mission to become a holistic fertility doula.
