Sarah created Lactation Room because she realized there was a gap for families who needed support after leaving the hospital or birth center. Her teaching revolves around a holistic approach taking into consideration personal needs, physiological challenges, and individual circumstances. Sarah went back to school to get her RN while simultaneously taking care of her school-age children. She spent the first years of her nursing career in the Maternal Child world and is in school again earning her Family Nurse Practitioner. Now, with three young-adult children herself, Sarah is focused on addressing the needs of new families in the community through breastfeeding support at her Rockville office location. She is an active member of ILCA, USLCA, IATP and MBC.

An experienced Board Certified Lactation Consultant will conduct a comprehensive visit – parent and baby health history, an assessment of the feeding parent’s breast/chest, and a clinical evaluation of the baby’s feeding. A weighted feeding to assess milk transfer along with an oral and feeding assessment will be provided to gauge how much milk the baby is taking and if there are any potential areas of concern about tongue or lip ties. A written personalized care plan is developed to support your breastfeeding goals. Your care may be coordinated with your healthcare providers (OB/GYN, Midwife, and Pediatrician). Telephone or email follow-up by the Lactation Consultant is included.
