About me

I have been a registered nurse in various specialties for over 35 years, including labor and delivery. I became a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, then completed my HypnoBirthing educator training to broaden my scope of knowledge. I am proud to have recently been accepted and trained as an Evidence Based Birth instructor, which allows me to bring a wealth of important, up to date and well-researched resources to couples. Currently, in addition to my private practice I provide hospital based prenatal classes and assist new families as a Board Certified Lactation Consultant. My mission is to help you discover your untapped strengths and to prepare you physically, mentally, and emotionally for birth and parenthood.

In my current work with new families, I have seen first-hand that those who have taken time to prepare for this truly transformational journey, have a more positive experience. Our working together is about building a relationship of trust and respect for your needs. I offer 2 class formats: Evidence Based Birth childbirth class and Lamaze childbirth class series. Each provide you with up to date information about what to expect in your birth setting, be well supported and have strategies for managing birth and postpartum. Other class offerings include Breastfeeding, Newborn Care, Comfort for Labor and private, customized classes based on your needs. My mission is to help you discover your untapped strengths and to prepare you physically, mentally, and emotionally for birth and parenthood.

Lamaze Childbirth series

Lamaze has been a well respected organization that has been involved in advocating for birth practices around the world that benefit a strong and healthy start for families and newborns. Their focus is to educate families to make the best decisions for their circumstances. This five class series will cover everything from pregnancy, labor and birth, early breastfeeding, newborn care and postpartum. The first 4 sessions are virtual with the final class in-person for hands on techniques. Each class is 3 hours and includes a book and access to video content to reinforce the what is covered in the reading and class discussion and PowerPoint content.

Evidence Based Birth childbirth series

This newer class is quickly gaining in popularity. Evidence Based Birth has been a well respected resource for maternity care providers for years and created this childbirth series by popular demand. It is a complete class taking you from pregnancy, labor and birth, postpartum, including early breastfeeding and newborn care. It has a strong focus on what the research shows as best practices for positive outcomes for parents and babies with added advocacy skills built into the program. This is a 6 session hybrid series with 5 virtual meetings and a final in-person session for practice of hands on techniques. Between classes you will do self-paced online video review of the in-depth course content to be discussed at the next class meeting.

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer in-person classes?

At this time both childbirth class series options are a hybrid format. Most class sessions are zoom, with the final class being in person for Hands-On practice for labor comfort techniques. I do have an option for in person private classes for childbirth, breastfeeding, and newborn care. Please feel free to contact me as I hope to be moving to more in person classes in the near future.
