I never would have thought a doula would be something I would have considered for my birth, but I’m so glad it’s the path we chose! Sheena reached out to me about her services and soon after we began discussing the benefits, we were making plans! I 100% believe I would not have went into this birth feeling as prepared and at peace as I was without her knowledge and guidance to prepare me! Upon arrival to the hospital, I was already at a 10 and my body was pushing for me. I would have NEVER thought I could birth naturally and unmedicated but thankfully I was provided with techniques and knowledge during my pregnancy to help me get through it! If I were to ever have another baby, I wouldn’t have it any different! Unmedicated birth does not make you any better than any other mama, but it sure does empower the heck out of you! Sheena was ready to provide me with care and support no matter the kind of birth I had and I feel that is so important! She was an advocate for us and our wants and wishes no matter what they were! She provided education on alternatives for just about everything that comes with pregnancy and labor. This helped us create the birth plan we wanted by knowing which options were both available and safe for both myself and baby! Looking back on my first labor I was scared and unprepared. Looking back on this one I was ready to trust my body and calm! The OB that delivered our Anni came in the next day and said to us “You could birth 10 more babies unmedicated, I have no doubt” and if that doesn’t summarize my feelings into words, I don’t know what does. Also extremely grateful for the raw and candid photos she captured in the delivery room during and after. You never get my husband’s genuine smile on camera but she captured the pure joy and pride on his face and so much more.
