I am going to be delivering in the hospital hopefully at the midwife section of the hospital. Not sure what my budget looks like just getting some ideas. I want to do it as naturally as possible. I have horrible birth trauma from my first baby. I was induced and fear mongered into getting an epidural. Second baby was a home birth and that was a very last minute decision that led me to the hospital after delivery due to massive hemorrhage. I don’t know what kind of techniques we can use during labor to help the process but I’m open to try things.

I’m looking for a postpartum night doula. We are wanting someone who can just help with our transition to having a second, but also is supportive of safe sleep and evidence based care.

I plan to give birth at Kootenai hospital with Dr. Meltzer. My birth plan is to stay unmedicated for as long as possible to ensure I am able to move to help baby descend properly. This will be a VBAC attempt. Dr. Meltzer is very supportive and believes that I should be able to have a vaginal delivery. He is also completely supportive of an unmedicated birth but will administer pain management at my request. Hospital policy requires two IVs for vbac but otherwise appears to be treated like any other birth. I want a doula to guide me through labor, support my very nervous/anxious husband, and be my backbone when I become vulnerable. Estimated budget ~$1,000 but I can be flexible. I am unsure of the going rate, to be honest.

I plan to have a home birth, I hope that costs will be covered by insurance.

I will be having the baby at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital, but I have always been interested in the option of a home birth, I haven’t fully decided. A budget is undecided since I am not sure what a midwife or doula typically costs. I am very early so I don’t have a birth plan just yet, but I do know that I think it’s important to have an additional support with me to advocate for what I will want. My choices may seem controversial to medical personnel.
