My name is Joanna, founder of Sisterhood Healing Birth Services. I am a mother of two, and it was through my own journey into motherhood that I was led to become a doula and childbirth educator. Guided by God and His Word, I have walked a path of deep healing—finding His peace, comfort, and reassurance in both birth and motherhood. Much of my healing came through the Holy Spirit and the strength of sisterhood. My name is Samantha Dorleus, and I’m from Miami, Florida. I’m the youngest of my older siblings, and growing up, I’ve always taken on the role of caretaker for my younger cousins. As my older sister and brother had children, it became second nature for me to help care for my nephews. When I found out I was pregnant, I knew I was ready for the journey ahead. Becoming a mother has been the most amazing experience of my life! Watching my daughter grow from a tiny baby in my belly to the beautiful little sunflower she is today has been truly incredible. Now that she’s 5 years old, I know I still have so much to learn as she continues to grow, but I’m beyond grateful to have her in my life. With my extensive experience caring for children since a young age, I’ve worked in after-school programs, summer camps, and preschools since 2015. Caring for children is something I’ve always loved and admired. I am now certified as a Doula and look forward to providing services to elevate and advocate for mothers, especially by offering postpartum/prenatal care. It’s my mission to support women as they navigate this beautiful but sometimes overwhelming journey of motherhood. I’m currently a full-time mom and, in my spare time, I enjoy cooking, crafting, working out, and finding new ways to support my daughter’s growth and development. I also love exploring new foods, with Caribbean cuisine being one of my favorites! I’m excited to offer my services and look forward to being of help to you all.

After enjoying that field for many years I wanted to specialize in OB/GYN sonography. Plans were put on hold as I welcomed my blessing. During my pregnancy I took all sorts of classes to prepare for birth, but, when it came to the hospital, things didn’t go as planned and I was stripped from my birth rights ! I never want another mother to feel the way I felt or be treated the way I was. Every woman deserves to feel empowered, supported and loved throughout their pregnancy, labor and delivery, postpartum and lactation journey. My passion for doula work only grew as I learned the statistics with minority women and I am ready to be a part of that change! I want to be a part of the statistic that decreases birth mortality.
