Yasmin Balmaceda

¡Hola! Hello everyone, my name is Yasmin and I am a certified Postpartum Doula. I split my time between The Woodlands, TX, north of Houston, and Walnut Creek, CA, East of San Francisco in the Bay Area. I speak English and Spanish, we can communicate in whichever language you feel most at home with. I am passionate about the postpartum period, specifically the first 40 days, and providing care and love to nurture the mother back to health after giving birth. My passion is cooking and self-care. We will sit down together to plan menus to help aid in replenishing you and promote healing to your body during my time taking care of you. In addition to helping you transition to bringing home baby, I will fill your freezer with ready to eat meals to enjoy when I'm gone, focus on your rest to promote mental ease and relaxation, and provide an environment where you are being tended to and taken care of. My role strongly focuses on the recovery and healing of the mother. My interests in continuing to expand my abilities have directed me to continue my studies and expand into a holistic traditional approach to my postpartum work. I would love to be alongside you as you make your journey through this transformative time in your life.

I don’t even know where to begin, hiring Yasmin as my postpartum doula was truly one of the best decisions I made as a first-time mom. I had an unexpected emergency C-section, my family and in-laws live out of state, and I came home feeling vulnerable, sore, and overwhelmed. I had a lot of anxiety during pregnancy and it continued after having my baby. Yasmin stepped in and filled my home with warmth, comfort, and the kind of support I didn’t even realize I needed. Before I even arrived home with my baby, she prepared my space so it felt peaceful and welcoming. Walking into that environment after surgery made an immediate difference in my recovery. She even recommended supplements to help my c-section heal. In those early days, Yasmin made it possible for me and my husband to actually rest. Even thought my husband was working from home, I needed someone who could focus on caring for me and our baby. Yasmin was that person. When I was in too much pain to sit up, she gently brought the baby to my bedside so I could breastfeed or bond without straining myself. Those small acts of care meant everything during such a vulnerable time. I also struggled with low breast milk production at first, and Yasmin supported me with so much patience and knowledge. She made me special teas and the most delicious, plant-forward meals. I didn’t realize how much fiber and nourishment my body needed after birth, but she did. Her meals were genuinely healing — comforting, flavorful, and exactly what my recovering body needed. She was also kind enough to make several freezer meals for me and my family to have once she left. She listened, encouraged me, and created a calm environment where I felt supported, seen, and truly cared for. I can honestly say my postpartum experience, especially recovering from a C-section would have been incredibly difficult without her. Yasmin helped me heal, nourished my body, and cared for me and my baby with care. I am grateful for her and wholeheartedly recommend her to any new parent. Every new mom deserves help and support postpartum.

My name is Rebecca Garcia and I am thrilled you are seeking out a Doula for your journey. I have a strong energetic pull towards this life changing work, and I am so honored to be pursuing my passion as a birth worker. I love all things birth and feel that my strongest assets are listening, empathy, providing resources and cooking homemade meals for others. I tell all my clients, if there is a birth I am there. With all the stigma and negative depictions in the media surrounding birth, I want to ensure that my clients feel secure in all their decisions without any judgments. This Is Your Body, Your Birth & Only You Get To Make The Decisions That Works Best For You & Your Baby. I have two spirited little ones of my own; ages 4 and 6. I had doulas for both births and feel as though they made my birthing journey undeniably memorable. They feed me, hit pressure points during labor, loved me, educated me and most importantly encouraged me to find my voice and strength. These are the experiences I wish to provide to my future clients. I have experience in homebirths, birth centers & hospital settings. I understand that ones birthing journey is a sacred space, and wish to only support and offer any resources that may help aid in this time. If you are interested or just want to connect and talk anything birth, postpartum or baby please feel free to reach out. Holding a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Amy has worked specifically with infants and toddlers in the Bay Area for over 20 years as both an educator as well as Preschool Director. Her strong understanding of child and human development, in addition to her life experiences, have taught her that with each family comes a diverse and dynamic ecosystem — each with its own unique needs. As a postpartum doula, Amy offers physical support (cooking, light housekeeping, babycare, preparing sitz baths, etc.); informational support (feeding, babycare skills, context and perspective, information about products and local resources); and emotional support/encouragement for anyone in the family (including non-medical assessment of adults’ postpartum moods and experience, and care for older siblings). Amy views herself as a trusted partner who is dedicated to helping new parents discover the needs of their individual children and families, while helping to smooth the edges of everyday life with a newborn so you can enjoy this special time.

Amy is absolutely amazing! We had her for 2 weeks of last-minute night support when nights were getting really tough for us in the newborn days, and wish we could have had her for longer. Our twins were going through an uncomfortable gassy phase and she made sure they were soothed throughout the nights. Amy is super knowledgeable and willing to answer questions and share her expertise. She would always take the time to debrief at the end of each night, even if that meant staying a little longer to make sure all our questions were answered. She also brought books and bottles/wraps/shusher for us to try. We're really grateful for her support and would highly recommend her to any family in need of postpartum support!

Gena was an absolute gift as we navigated the first few weeks of our son’s life. Having had a very difficult postpartum period with my first son, I did all I could to prepare for the birth of my second son which is how I met Gena. She was able to immediately put me at ease when my anxiety was front and center and helped me get centered when things felt extra difficult. She had faith in me when I wasn’t so sure and we talked about life and newborns striking a perfect balance of knowledge and friendliness that is hard to find. If you get the chance to work with Gena you will be all the better for it. I highly recommend her.

I have a background in Early Childhood Care & Education, advanced newborn care training, and expertise in feeding, sleep shaping, parent education, nursery and baby registry set-up. Bringing new life into the world is an incredibly special and exciting time for families, but it is also a vulnerable time. My practice is judgement-free. My primary goal is to provide your family with the most support and knowledge possible to set you up for parenting success. When I am not caring for babies or running my business, I enjoy going to the park with my son, walking my dog Nemo, tending to my garden or reading a good book.

Recent review

Kaila is simply amazing. She was with our family for the first ~15 weeks after our daughter was born (initially for 10 weeks but we loved her so much we extended). As first time parents we were nervous and a little crazed when our little one was born early at 38 weeks - from the moment she entered our home Kaila brought a calming warm energy. Not only was she incredibly sweet with our daughter, she was kind and supportive of us. We had great peace of mind knowing our little one was well cared for at night (and we got much needed rest!). Additionally in her capacity as a certified lactation consultant she gave advice and support, helping us monitor baby’s weight and advising on pumping / increasing supply when we struggled with breastfeeding. Kaila was sweet with our pups as well - she truly became a part of our family. We couldn’t have asked for a better person to help us through our first few months adapting as new parents. We’re more than happy to recommend her to any family looking for a reliable, kind and knowledgeable caretaker!
