I'm just starting the process! We are switching insurance providers (from Kaiser to BCBS / Regence) in January and I'm hoping to establish a care team now - at the beginning of my pregnancy - that can see me all the way through. I've always been a fan of more naturopathic & wholistic medicine so a midwife feels like a good fit to be a part of that team.

I would like to give birth at home in a pool (a blow up kind). I stay in an apartment and have currently been looking for an establishment that offers a pool birth. My budget right now is around $1200 and it would have to be paid in increments. I can’t do it all at once right now. I am still curating a birth plan. I do know I want a natural birth.

I need someone to help me when I get close to giving birth, at the the hospital and for a short time after.

I do not know what all is on a birth plan, but I do know I want to be standing or in other positions, not lying on my back, when having the baby. I would like to have access to a birthing ball, tub, and other non conventional options. I do not want an epidural, if at all possible. Not necessarily because of the pain, but because I know it prolongs labor.
