This will be my third baby. I had my first via cesarean and my second cancer both in hospital. This time I would like to do a home birth because I really want to have a more intimate birth experience. I currently have no known complications. I’m not sure how much a doula generally costs, so I would say my budget is around $1500, but I’m open to hearing prices as I am not familiar with this process.

Looking for a doula to help me have a safe pregnancy and delivery

We plan to give birth at Novant @ Forsyth Hospital in Winston Salem, NC and we prefer a natural birth. We are preferably looking for a doula who accepts the WellCare Medicaid plan.

I plan on having a hospital birth but with as little medications as possible. As close to natural as my body can handle, but in a setting where i have the option and opportunity to change my mind up until the last minute. I want someone able to provide that extra step of care, the nurturing and caring side of pregnancy that is a little less common in a medical setting. My budget is currently still being decided upon but I do have a bit of flexibility in that area.

I'm exploring my birth options, leaning towards a home birth but also considering the hospital for safety and cost-effectiveness. My budget is a concern, and I'm relying on my insurance to help. I am primarily looking for a doula to provide education to me and my husband and help advocate for a successful birth with only necessary interventions as they arise or as I request. I do not want to be in a birthing environment where I don’t understand the language or I am not familiar with optional vs required interventions from the medical team.
