Im planning an at home water birth at a family members house along the ocean in campbell river, bc. I have a midwife team- "Team Ocean"- and I want it to be as calming, natural, spiritual as possible. I'd like to avoid the hospital as much as possible, that being said i am also 39 years old and this is our first. Im just looking for guidance for ease and wonder what sort of costs having a doula would be.

I am struggling with postpartum anxiety and dissociation and would like some support with overnight to rest. I would like someone who is understanding who can support both me and baby and allow my husband some rest.

Hello! My name is Cate Jackson. I am currently 32 weeks with my first baby, it’s a girl, and I am so excited to be a mom. I am feeling both nervous and excited about giving birth. It is 100% my goal to have a natural birth. I am looking for the support of an understanding Doula that can help me feel more confident about going the natural route in a safe setting, whether that’s a hospital or at home, and if at a hospital can help me advocate for myself about the interventions hospital staff are trained to provide for births. I am trying my best to work on techniques like breathing and learning different positions to make natural birth manageable for my first time. My fear is the unknown of what to expect even though I’ve watched so many videos and listened to so many podcasts, I think every body is different. I want my birth experience to be as low intervention as possible, however having someone besides my partner to guide me through the intensity of it all would be a life saver. It would be my dream to be at a birthing center but i have not had any luck finding one that we would be able to afford, or insurance would cover. Hey! So I'm planning my 3rd birth. The first was an emergency c- section and the second also a c-section, 4yrs ago. I had a very unsupportive/hands off midwife previously. I've found an amazing midwife this time and am planning a VBAC. Currently planning a birthing center birth (birthing center is in Bastrop Texas) but considering homebirth.. I'm not supper stuck on a particular bith plan. My goal is a healthy baby and a bit of redemption from my previous births that didn't go the way I planned at all. I'm a Christian, mildly crunchy farm mom who just wants a calm, peaceful birth resulting in a healthy baby and minimal trauma! 😅 I'm looking for a support person to remind me I am capable and keep me focused. I had post partum depression last time so some postpartum support may be good for me, although I have more family support this time too! We don't have insurance.
