I am interested in a midwife/dual with a holistic approach. That will help me to achieve a safe and unmediated birth. I have had o e prior child as a vaginal birth, I labored for over 24hrs, did end up with an epidural at 9.5cm (I did not want one), had a 2nd sac of water, and did have a tear. I did not want to push on my back and made that clear, it didn’t change anything, I asked for delayed cord clamping, it did not change anything. I did not have a lot of the things I wanted met.

I am looking for a doula to support my husband and me with the birth of our second child. My first birth was natural and an amazing experience. My birth plan is centered on supporting a natural birth again, and we plan to deliver with a midwife at the Christ Birthing Center (West Chester Medical Center). I want a natural vaginal birth with as little interventions as possible including but not limited to intermittent monitoring, ability to move as much or as little as I want, and a truly holistic and therapeutic birth environment.

I am having a hospital birth due to being considered "high-risk," but I'd like as natural an experience as possible and want my wants and needs to be taken seriously. From what I've seen doulas cost around $1.5k, so I'm willing to pay around that amount. I want as few interventions as possible and to not be pressured into anything (epidural, inducement, etc.). I would like to be able to choose what positions I'm most comfortable in during birth rather than being forced onto my back, if possible. I do not want to be forced into an unnecessary c-section or the birth rushed. Unless the baby is in a real emergency, I want the baby to have skin-to-skin contact with me immediately after birth. I do not want the baby to be given a pacifier whatsoever. I intend to breastfeed.

Hello! I am just starting a search for a doula. I’m 39, this will be my first baby, brought to us by IVF. I live in Ankeny, I need to choose between delivering at Mercy West or Methodist West. I got in at Iowa Clinic so that’s where I’m going for OB. I would like to deliver vaginally, but I respect medical opinions. I just also want support to advocate for myself. I’m looking for help planning and preparing for birth. I also had a breast reduction at 18, so I am unsure whether I will be able to breastfeed and how much.
