Hi! This is my first pregnancy and delivery. I am planning to give birth at Advent Health’s UChicago at Hinsdale. I was looking for doula services that would be covered by my Medicaid’s BCBS Community health insurance. My hope is to have a vaginal delivery. I believe a doula can be my source of the much needed guidance, assistance, and strength I’ll require experiencing labor and delivery for the first time. We’re looking for a reliable person to help with our infant starting on October 27, 2025 (date is flexible). This position requires someone who has a valid driver's license and a vehicle for outings. Experience with multiple children is a must. The job involves feeding, changing, and engaging our child in age-appropriate activities during the weekday daytime. Note: I am vegetarian. ​Bonding: I want to prioritize skin-to-skin time. Lactation Support: Help with latching, positioning, and recognizing baby’s hunger cues. Demonstrations: I’d like to be shown (rather than just told) how to do the first bath, umbilical cord care, and safe swaddling. ​Sleep Hygiene: Help us implement a safe sleep environment and understand newborn sleep cycles. ​Baby Soothing: Teach us "the 5 S’s" or other techniques for calming a crying infant. Visitor Policy: If visitors are present, the doula’s role is to ensure I am being cared for. If I look tired, the doula has permission to kindly wrap up the visit.

I would like a doula who can help educate me on all my options around birth and how to best prepare for that. I'd also like them to be present when I'm giving birth, and potentially post partum care. I'm giving birth at Central Dupage Hospital. I learned today that my insurance plan covers doulas that are in-network, so ideally they would be in-network with BCBSIL. I don't know my birth plan, I would like help figuring that out.

I am considering using a doula for emotional support during child birth and postpartum. I am looking for someone who knows hands on techniques for pain management and anxiety during childbirth and helps with self care and emotional support after child birth. I am 40 years old and this is my first pregnancy. Cost is a concern. I don't really know how much these services cost but I'm not able to spend more than $1500 and would like to keep it under that.

Hello - my husband and I welcomed our first child early this February. I had a very difficult birth experience that's led to significant postpartum anxiety/depression, in addition to navigating lots of persistent feeding and subsequent colic issues with our son. I am currently planning to give birth at cdh. I’m not sure what an appropriate budget for a doula is so I guess I’m interested in rates.
