Ever since Jessica can remember, she has followed her calling to care for others. She knew from a young age that she wanted to be a nurse, and she has never deviated from that path. When she was able to formally follow her passion, she volunteered at CHOC hospital while in high school to care for sick infants. Jessica was accepted into the rigorous five- year nursing program at San Francisco State University, and was one of the 50% of remaining nursing students that successfully earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and passed her Board Exams to be licensed as a registered nurse. While enrolled in her rigorous courses at SFSU, she also became certified as a doula and donated her time to work with low- income families and assist women in the prison population at their births. Jessica’s experience during clinicals at different hospitals in the Bay Area made her question some of the traditional protocols that hospitals use, such as intervention in all births, even those that are at low risk. She began to explore other options, and was hired as an intern at The Sanctuary and Birth Center in Los Angeles. After graduating from SFSU. Jessica sought a practical balance and applied to and was accepted into the Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery where she learned and practiced a holistic approach to childbirth. During this 2 ½ year program, she was on call 24/7 for births, prenatal, and postpartum visits that were sandwiched in between her coursework. Jessica graduated, passed her Board Exams, and is a CPM-LM- Certified Professional Midwife and Licensed Midwife. Jessica has participated in more than 145 home births, and over 200 hospital births; she is well acquainted with the protocols of both. Jessica believes that in order to be the best midwife for her clients, she must be as educated and knowledgeable as possible, which led Jessica to complete courses in the Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and Midwifery program at Georgetown University. Jessica continues to further her education by staying up to date on advances in the health care field, and continue her studies at Frontier Nursing University. Jessica has officially graduated with a Master's of Science in Nursing with honors. Jessica’s ultimate goal is to combine the benefits of both western and eastern medical practices to her patients. As of yet, there isn't any other licensed midwife that has the breadth and depth of education that Jessica has achieved. We are Shayna & Jamie, two nurses who also happen to be mamas with a heart to educate every household on the basics of pediatric illnesses as well as CPR & choking! We offer in-home, private educational courses for groups of care givers, families or friends and are starting to book out courses for the next couple of months. Our courses provide the same education of a CPR course without the formalities of a certification... meaning you will walk away with the information you need to adequately perform CPR without a certificate & have the bonus of one-on-one guidance with Jamie, a trained American Heart Association Instructor and seasoned ER/Trauma Nurse. Along with the CPR course, Shayna (a pediatric nurse) will provide an in-depth head to toe overview of the most common pediatric illnesses, how to manage them at home, when to see a doctor & when to go to the ER. At the end of the course, there is an option to do a Q&A where you have uninterrupted time with trained professionals as well as hands on practice with manikins to practice performing CPR. Our courses typically take 2 hours between set up and take down. The course currently runs $75/ person. Since this is a private course, you get the freedom to choose who you'd like to attend & invite your chosen people. We are based out of Orange County & have a class participant minimum based on location & distance. Travel fees may apply. Our schedule is flexible with weekends, evenings and morning slots available & we book on a first come, first serve basis. Hello, I've been practicing women's health since 2000 and am among the first cohort to be board certified in Women's Health Physical Therapy. Women may experience abdominal or pelvic floor issues due to too much or too little tone and muscle strength and this can happen simultaneously. The real question I like to address is what is the primary cause that triggered this cascade of events. Often times problems don't resolve because there is another issue happening somewhere else in the fascial system causing these problems. The skills I am proficient in to address these problems are Visceral Manipulation, Matrix Repatterning, myofascial release, imagery and movement, Frequency Specific Microcurrent, Integrative Systems Model.
