Hi there! I’m Keyani — it’s so nice to meet you. I’m a full-spectrum doula (fertility, birth, postpartum, pregnancy, abortion, and infant loss), a certified sleep consultant, and a longtime nanny. I’ve spent the last 6 years working closely with infants and families, and it’s truly where my heart feels at home. I’m based in the East Bay and serve families all around the San Francisco area. My journey in birth work started at age 12, when I had the unique experience of catching my little sister. At age 22, I started my work as a volunteer doula in Vermont, serving members in the community who lacked support. My early volunteer work gave me a deep understanding of how hospitals function, and how to work with medical staff towards the best possible outcomes for parent and child. In 2023, I was trained and certified through DONA, with mentorship by Penny Bussell Stansfield and Dr. Teri Nava-Anderson. Having been through two training programs has given me a diverse range of strategies to draw upon in our prenatal planning sessions and during your labor and birth! I have been honored to participate in many birth stories, each with unique circumstances and goals. I have experience supporting medicated and unmedicated vaginal births, scheduled and emergent Cesarean births with first, second, and fourth-time parents, queer parents, low-income parents, autistic parents, non-native English-speaking parents, sexual assault survivors, people with depression, and parents of color. I am a member of the queer community and this has strengthened my belief that all bodies deserve respectful, compassionate, and culturally humble care.

I have always been passionate about doing work that provides deep, meaningful support. After years of working as a nanny, and my own experience in becoming a mother, I found the support for new parents to be nearly non-existent. When my kids were born I felt very unprepared and alone. I became a doula because I know how hard postpartum is. I know how it feels to be exhausted, overwhelmed, and unsure of yourself as a new parent. I also know it doesn't have to feel that way. I have a full time job as a case manager working with children with special needs but I am looking for some extra work on the side. I have around 15 years of child care experience and thought that I may be a perfect fit for your family! I have several years of experience with newborns and infants, both in child care centers and in the home. In the past, I have worked with a family of four children, ranging in ages from newborn to 8 years old. Tasks with this family often included baths, driving the kids around, drop offs at friends houses, making meals, trips to the park, putting them to sleep, and caring for the baby. Hi. I was born and raised in Walnut Creek. After my undergraduate work at UCLA and graduate school at LACC I returned to my home town to practice in 1994. My specialty has always been a combination of sports injury work, general spinal care and a specialty in the treatment of pregnancy related lower back pain. I used to be a nurse in Brazil for 16 years. I would like to proceed in this area because I have always enjoyed working with prenatal and natal stages, including babies aged 0-6 months in the hospital. I decided to concentrate more on being a doula since it encompasses more of what I love to do. I have worked as a combination of an at-home nurse and post-birth baby care for mothers fresh out of the hospital. But since moving here instead of being a nurse again, I have decided to be a certified doula.
