Alexandra is a Carrot-registered Postpartum Doula. She has been a certified Postpartum Doula since 2015 after completing her training through Cornerstone Doulas. Her passion for supporting new families, however, began long before that. She holds a nursing degree from her native country the Netherlands where she worked in pediatrics, which gave her a strong clinical foundation in supporting postpartum families, newborns, and infants. She is also cross-certified as a Newborn Care Specialist, allowing her to provide comprehensive care during those precious first weeks and months after birth. I looked back on my experience unhappy with the things that were ‘done to me,’ rather than being able to make educated decisions based on evidence and my maternal instincts. During my second pregnancy, I knew I wanted to be more prepared and have a completely different birth experience. I did a lot of research on evidence-based practices and created an ideal vision for what I wanted this next birth to look like.
