I am a Registered Nurse and a mother of 5 boys (3 on earth and 2 angels in heaven). When my first was born he had a NICU stay of one week. The Lactation Consultant on duty empowered me to breastfeed him and gave me tools so that I could bring him home sooner than expected. She inspired me to follow a career into lactation. Then after having breastfed my own children and developing a passion for helping others, I went on to become a IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). I also have a Bachelor's degree in Exercise and Wellness Management and Nursing. I have been an RN for the last 12 years. I am here to help you reach your goals with breastfeeding, whatever they may be. When offering my services I assess the mother/baby as a whole and make recommendations based on evidence-based care.

My Story I am New York native, living in Los Angeles now for the last 15 years. I am a proud mom to my 6 six boys (age 5 to 21) so for a long time I was either pregnant or breastfeeding. Each baby breastfed for a different duration of time depending on what was going on in my life then and I enjoyed every minute of it. As my boys grew older I was on the search for a new career so I started searching. After exploring various career options, and helping some new mom friends along the way I set my eyes on becoming a Lactation Consultant. This profession combines my passions for babies, breastfeeding and helping others. I so enjoyed my breastfeeding experiences with my babies and wished the same for all moms. So, in my 30's and mom of 5 at the time, I returned to school. After completing my prerequisites, I joined the LC program at UCSD and finally became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2019. ​

Hi! I'm Shaina Brickner from West Los Angeles :) I am an IBCLC and RN, with 7 years as a Labor and Delivery Nurse. I transitioned to working as a lactation consultant when I realized that my true passion is educating new parents on all the options they have when it comes to breastfeeding their babies. I have 3 children whom I breastfed each for over a year, and each breastfeeding journey was so unique. I love to help new parents navigate the crazy new world of parenthood through birth, breastfeeding, and newborn care classes and postpartum lactation visits. I offer home visits (if you're local to Los Angeles) as well as virtual and sometimes office visits. My favorite topics of discussion are pumping schedules when going back to work, tethered oral tissues (tongue tie/lip tie), combining sleep hygiene and breastfeeding. and managing supply issues.

I am an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant, parent educator, and mother of four with personal experience breastfeeding my four children through a variety of challenges for about six years. My nursing experience includes two years in NICU. I'm not currently licensed in California as a registered nurse. As a new mother, I was so thankful to have in-home support. This is the same model I have developed my lactation services on. Early and often works well for establishing your milk supply. It also works well to provide support to new parents as they adjust to life with a new baby. I provide free ongoing follow-up support to all consultations to help you embrace motherhood with confidence.
