About me

I am a mother to four children and when my first and fourth babies were newborns, they gave me many breastfeeding challenges. It was with the support of skilled lactation consultants that I was able to develop a plan to be able to continue to breastfeed. I became a lactation consultant because I desire to support moms in the comfort of their own homes as they overcome challenges while feeding their babies. It is a joy and honor to get to do what I do and I love building relationships with the families I serve. Before I was a lactation consultant, I was a birth doula. I’ve been supporting growing families for over a decade.

Service introduction

Growing Families Lactation & Doula supports you in your home for a comprehensive 60-90 minute visit. This visit includes assessments of you, your baby, and a feed at the breast (and/or bottle). Weight checks occur before and after feeds at the breast so that you know exactly how much your baby eats. A pumping session is assessed if desired. We specialize in helping with these common challenges: Painful feedings Damaged nipples Breastfeeding refusal Low milk supply Over production of milk Tongue or lip tie Slow weight gain in baby Weaning from nipple shields Breastfeeding after a NICU stay Pumping plans for back to work Bottle refusal Education, reassurance, and more We work with you to establish a feeding plan that helps the whole family thrive. Often times this is a plan to exclusively breastfeed. However, sometimes this plan includes options for supplementation. Mothers are asked for feedback when establishing feeding goals. We know that there's no feeding plan that is "one size fits all" and we develop unique plans for each mother. Partners are encouraged to attend lactation consultations to listen and to learn how they can help the mom and baby. Between our visits, you can text us questions. We know that babies and their feeding habits change often and the feeding plan must be flexible. That's why we are available with necessary feedback on demand and why we usually visit the same family several times.
